Braxton hicks - how soon?

Am 22 weeks pg with no 3. Bump feels very tight and firm ( alas not the rest of me! ), esp in the evening. What's going on? Surely too soon for bh?

It does sound a bit early, but that is what BH feel liket, tummy goes all hard for a few moments and then goes back to normal. Ask your midwife what she thinks.

With dc2 mine started at around 20 wks, and by 28 weeks were 5 or 6 an hour, every hour. It made for a very wearing pregnancy.

If you have a UTI it can irritate your uterus and caused BH's.

I did have iffy tummy earlier, maybe that had something to do with it. Chasing, can I ask if all okay except bh's? Think would cope better with it if knew pg would be fine?

My bh started at 22 weeks. I'm now 30 weeks and still get them several times a day

All sounds pretty reassuring. It would be comforting if I could actually remember much about previous pregnancies too! I know I had lots of bh but can't remember at all when they started!

yes, well they thought I had a UTI, and I had anti-b's, but tbh I don't think I did - and I certainly didn't after the anti-b's.
When they did a hour-long trace at 32 weeks the hospital freaked and had me in overnight to have steroids to mature the baby's lungs.
I then went to 36+6 (which was exactly the same as ds1) and gave birth in less than 15 mins.
So I am guessing the BH's did something!

I'm 25weeks with DC3 and been getting them since about 16weeks. There is a few threads on here about them and does seem to be the more babies you have then the earlier they start and my midwife said its perfectly normal.

Agree with scouse! Mine also started at 16 weeks and at 29 weeks there are some real breath takers (dc4). Had heard they can cause cervix changes but the ratio of women with strong regular BHs to women who deliver early is fairly low from what Ive seen (or that's what I HOPE Smile).
