We found a Babasling in a gorgeous orange color on clearance today at TK Maxx for £24. We bought it because we loved it but would like to hear about anyone's experience with them - good or bad. We have 14 days to return it if need be.

Not great as despite repeated attempts with dd I could
Never find a way to wear it that was comfortable and secure. It's in the cupboard ready to eBay.

I love mine :-) I've used it since DD was about 5 months old, and she's still comfy to carry in it at 14 months.

Hope they're good. My red one's ready and waiting, as we found a discount voucher online... fingers crossed!

i had one for my ds1 and only used about 2 times as couldn't really get comfy with it and he didn't seem to like it too much. had a 'closer' sling for ds2 which was much comfier as it went over both shoulders so would recommend that one much more, although tbh not used that one a huge amount either but if i was more of a sling using person would definitely have used the 2nd one more and not the babasling.

My sister hated her Babasling. Said the baby wasn't comfortable and neither was she.

Most of the articles I've read about slinging suggest that the best position is for the baby to be in an upright position facing the parent.

Having talked to a lot of mums who regularly sling, I'm getting a soft Close Carrier (similar to a Moby) for our baby. Also have a Connecta for when she's a few months old.

I didn't get on with it - swamped me and never felt secure although DH used it few times. I have a wrap and a connecta for this one.

I thought ours was fab for round the house - DD sat in it upright facing my chest from a couple of weeks old (as she would not be put down).

Not sure that I would walk long distances in it though - we had a baby bjorn for walking into town etc.

FindingStuffToChuckOut · 21/02/2011 10:39

I brought one but could never figure out how to used it for a baby (which is when I really want to use a sling). Was great for hip carrying small toddler, but for a young baby it didn't work for me (I recognise that may be 100% down to me and not the sling, but DD just got all twisted up in it as a baby)

I just bought a babasling second hand on Ebay for £12...thought that was a bargain, seeing they retail at around £40- so no harm done if it's not all that.

kellestar · 21/02/2011 12:34

I struggled with it. Big Boobs in the way all the time and DD looked uncomfortable. However, a friend bought it off me and she gets on well with it, she's tall and not broad shouldered like me, so found it easier to use. I've now got a moby wrap that seems to work well for me now.

Snowfalls108 · 21/02/2011 13:06

I found mine brilliant. The company themselves are really great with tips - I spoke to them when DS was little and they helped me work it out!

daimbardiva · 21/02/2011 13:29

I never managed to get to grips with mine at all, unfortunately. I used my baby bjorn much more and found it great.

piecenjam · 21/02/2011 13:35

I used mine every day for about 8 months. Loved it. Had a baby bjorn too and dp used that as he didn't like babasling. It is very much about technique and takes a while to get it right.
