Flu jab - side effects?

I'm 25 wks P and due to (finally) have a flu jab later on today after being on my surgery waiting list for some time.

I'm just a little wary as it's been a long time since I've had any sort of innoculations.

I'm also going straight to a social event afterwards. It suddenly occurred to me that the jab might make me feel a bit ill.

Just wondering what other people's experiences have been?

Also - does it leave a mark, like the circular innoculation marks I've seen on some people's arms? I've always wondered about those, as I was fully innoculated as a baby, but in Canada, and they left no marks.

Thanks for any info!

I had mine at around 24 weeks (had been on the waiting list for a few months!).

Personally I was fine, it left no mark, I didn't feel ill at all, got it done and then went about my day as usual Smile

My arm did ache a little the following day, but other than that, nothing.

Cool, thanks for the info.

Same, no reaction and no mark. Had mine at 24 weeks (I think).

Thanks beaurevenge. Thinking I'm going to be ok. I did some research and it sounds like the vaccination scars I'm thinking of are from smallpox vaccs from the 70s. I never knew that!

No reaction, no mark here. I think the marks are from the BCG which I never had for various reasons. They don't do it routinely any more though.

I had a mild reaction, very swollen and red/angry and now a huge bruise (but to be fair i react alot to things). I felt fine afterwards

I had no reaction to the flu jab (also at 20 something weeks - I have forgotten exactly when) but my then 4 year old daughter had a fever in the night after she had hers and complained of aching all over and her arm hurting - she is usually very brave about injections so I think the painful arm was genuine, and and it is the first thing she ever reacted to. The reaction didn't start until quite late at night, she was fine for several hours immediately after. She was also fine (but tired) by the next day.

I think most people have no reaction but the painful arm is not unusual and it is also not especially unusual to have some mild and shot lived fluey symptoms later.

Going by my daughter's experience I'd guess you'd be fine at the social event as even if you are in the unlucky minority and get a reaction it won't kick in for several hours!

All the best

Just a sore arm here as well.

I felt a bit poorly for two days afterwards - like 2and1's daughter, kind of achey and feverish - and had a sore arm, but this didn't start til the day after.

Update - had it at 5 pm, no reaction so far & had a lovely time at my social event. Even if I get mild flu-y symptoms tomorrow, that's ok with me.

Thanks everyone!
