I am having pain in my pelvic and pubic areas today. This happens predominantly when standing and feel as though i can't stand up straight. Is this normal atthis stage or should i be contacting midwife for advice?

I had pelvic pain around 20-24 weeks, luckily just around the time of a MW appt. They didn't seem phased at all but still booked me for physio. Of course as with any specialist appointment the slot I was given wasn't for another two months! Whole lot of good that was going to do. Ended up just having to live with it.

It did go away in the end. I just tried to keep walking and stretching (lightly) to keep things moving.

If you are concerned though don't hesitate to contact the MW.

Hi
I'm 20.5 weeks and I've had intermittent pelvic pain since around 17 weeks, although it seems to be worse for me when I'm sitting down (I work in an office).

My MW told me it's very normal as things are stretching and growing, more so as this my first pg. She didn't really say much more than that, so if you find out anything from your mw, and/or are given any suggestions for relieving the pain, I'd love to hear back from you.

I was having bad pelvic pain from early on, which is much better now am 28 wks pregnant. Midwife mentioned bump support and self-referral for physio, but there isn't much they can do from what I understood.

Hi. I started a v similar thread a few days ago - I'm 25 wks P. SPD hasn't been ruled out but thought I'd mention that my GP tested me for a UTI and it came back positive. I was surprised as I didn't feel like I had one (had one a long time ago and it was hugely painful to go to the loo - didn't have any of those symptoms!)

I've been on penicillin since Weds night and the pain that was directly in my pelvic/pubic area has eased up. Might be worth checking this out with your GP?

I had this too.

Strangely later on now. 30 weeks. Its gone completely and has not been happening for a while.

I have started swimming though and am not sure whether that is what has helped.

I worried about it too ...

there's an article in the Guardian today about pelvic pain - but don't be scared by it

I get this too - mine started quite early on and got to the point a few weeks ago where I could barely walk - anyway spoke to my doctor who gave me a fir note for lighter duties and I have found that it has really improved. In my first pregnancy I went for physio but tbh it wasn't that much use - was just one group session where they told you a few excercises to do and gave you a big belly band that was like a big tuby grip bandage - whilst it eased the pain it was so tight and uncomfortable I ended up not wearing it and just putting up with the pain.
The best advice I was given was to sit on an excercise ball - I sit on mine when I am watching tv or when I am loading the washer etc, it really helps - think they are about £5 in argos.
