... do they exist?
I was going to buy a couple for hospital,so didnt want to spend much... but m&p are £30+ mothercare are £26+ and primark / asda etc either dont have buttons (for bf) or are covered in cartoon characters etc, personally not my cup of tea
Had naively assumed I would be able to pick up a dark coloured nightie with button top for about a tenner - anyone able to suggest something??
thanks

I got some from Peacocks for well under £10. I think they cost me £3.50 each. However, they weren't dark coloured but at that price, I wasn't bothered.

FannyLogan · 17/02/2011 19:30

I got a man's nightshirt which was good, but not significantly cheaper

Not dark, but still - \link{http://www.peacocks.co.uk/product/index.jsp?productId=4597011&prodFindSrc=paramNav\spotty}

Peacocks here too - i've got a black and white check one and a grey one with black stars and not a cartoon character in sight!

I got some from primark, black with little white dots on, buttons down front to about half way, came down to my knees (im 5ft 6) and about £3 each. Just the job.
Hope that helps :)

haloflo · 17/02/2011 20:21

Do the peacocks ones definatly have popper or buttons? You can't tell from the pics if they are real or just for show.

I need online shops as the the nearest primark is 30 miles away.

Very glad you posted this oggbags as bf nightwear is currently on my to do list!

M&S here

PukeyMummy · 17/02/2011 20:38

There was one in the Prima M&B mag this month specially designed for labour/hospital stays and bf, hang on...

Good idea, but £30 or more for something you'll use once and chuck away?! [Hmm]

Last time I hunted high and low for a nightie and bought a cheap long stripey shirt/tunic top from Tesco which had buttons down the front (but not all the way down).

What about looking at men's t-shirts instead?

belindarose · 17/02/2011 20:40

I wished I'd taken loose pyjamas instead. Lots of those have button shirts.

Highlandgirl · 17/02/2011 20:40

I brought a man's style nightshirt from M&S..it's on whomovedmychoclate link too.

It's quite nice and think I'll wear it in the first few weeks just to chill at home with a pair of leggings.

ng1412 · 17/02/2011 21:00

I was looking for stuff too so thanks for starting this thread oggybags, have just ordered two nightshirts from Peacocks for £14 including delivery, bargain!!

JETS · 17/02/2011 21:44

Only thing wouls rethink the whole button down nightie - you will probably be more comfy with pjs that you lift up top - you wont feel so exposed etc. Certainly wish id gone that way!!! Cant understand any benefits of button down!!!

oggybags · 17/02/2011 21:45

thanks ladies, peacocks it is!

I also got the black one with white dots on from primark. I only got it about 3 weeks ago so would think they still have them in stock.

diyqueen · 17/02/2011 21:48

Matalan have them - I got some from there, about £5. On the subject of pyjamas, Asda have some really comfy black pj bottoms with a soft, stretchy roll-over top - have been sleeping in them for the last few weeks and also planning to wear them post-cs as regular round the house trousers for a while!

Leilababyno1 · 17/02/2011 21:49

I bought a couple of the Peacocks button down nighties online but have sent them back, as they are polyester- don't want to be sweating in full blown labour wearing a polyester nightie!! Sad

So gonna try and find some 100% cotton ones..

LoopyLoopsHulaHoops · 17/02/2011 21:49

I think vesty strapped nighties or PJs are better tbh, much less hassle.

NancyDrewHadaClue · 17/02/2011 21:56

loopy agree - a strappy vest that can be pulled down under your breast is much better IMO. Primark have 95% cotton 5% lycra ones for £3. I have lived in them throught this (my 4th) pregnancy.

They also have jersey "lounge pants" with roll down tops for £5 or drawstring for £3.
