Bump. I'd like to know too.

I did the Marie Mongan one which I found quite helpful in preparing for the birth but, um.... it didn't 'work' in the sense that I didn't need extra pain relief. It helped with the pregnancy insomnia a bit though.

DH and I are taking the course based on the Mongan method, really like it thus far. Here's the book they use: www.hypnobirthing.co.uk/hypnobirthing_a_celebration_of_life.shtml. Not that I've looked into the history extensively, but according to my teacher Marie is the founder in this method. However the ideas she presents are based on both theory and actual evidence experienced/observed by many others.

I haven't read any others though, nor have I 'applied' the theory in true practice yet (35 weeks preggers).

I used this one when pregnant with DD.

I was pretty sceptical but just thought in the worst case, at least it gives me a reason to relax every now and again. I don't know for sure if it did work but I felt amazingly relaxed when I actually went into labour and found it really helped with breathing etc.

I just used TENS and then G&A at 8cm and didn't find it too bad at all; I will definitely be using it again this time!

I am reading the Marie Mongan book called Hypnobirthing. I have also taken a crash course which was helpful and covered material in the book.

Sorry for crashing your thread Oggy, but do you mind if I ask Lilly and Beauverage where you're doing your courses? I'd be up for doing one too.

Hi Had two wonderful hypnobirths using the Marie Managan approach. Both lovely births. Strongly recommend this to you. It worked for me. As a result I am looking into training to be a practitioner now in North Yorkshire area. Message me if you want more info, happy to talk to you.

This isnt a hynobirthing book but the ideas in it helped me so much. I had a 9 pound baby naturally with no drugs and fully credit this book:

I used the natal hypnotherapy book and CDs here for my second baby and it worked really well. I gave birth at home, in water, with no need at all for any other pain relief. It was a fantastic way to give birth.
