hi ladies. I'm in a quandry and need some advice. I had a mmc end of November and an erpc. My normal cycle was 28 to 30 dayS but after the op it was 21 painful and light then 22 and normal. My last af started 9th Jan i only got a positive test on cd 37 it was quite light but definitly there I've now tested again today on cd 41 and still the same. . . Light positive. Its a 10 m ui test so sensitive but I'm really worried its so late in cycle to get such a light result. Symptoms are superhuman smell back ache light cramps and tiredNess. Please help. I'm terrified its all doomed like before!

Congratulations! I was pregnant 6 weeks after a mmc and my little boy is now 2 and all is well. Don't worry, everything will be fine :)

kampakat · 17/02/2011 08:12

Every pregnancy is different - so even if you have had a mmc it doesn't mean this one is doomed.

I had a mmc 18 months ago and although we waited in between (we got married Smile) we are now 21 weeks and all is good.

I only did one test but by that point I was so late I knew that it was definate, but from what I have read if you get a line not matter how light - it is still a line...

You never really stop worrying though after a mc - even though lots of people will tell you not to worry...it's human nature!

Now stop worrying Grin

cc1983 · 17/02/2011 08:52

thanks berri and kampakat :) I'm glad things have gone well for you! And kampakat Its so true. My oh keeps telling me not to worry but i can't help it. I worry that I'm not vomiting myself into a stupor, I'm worried about ectopic, choking on my prenatal tablets, not being hungry enough, Being too hungry you name it. I worry. But I'll try not to. :)

cc its so hard not to worry, perhaps the only tactic is to distract yourself as much as possible until you can organise an early scan. It does sound like you have some good symptoms...but the nausea bit does not necessarily kick in straight away or at all so I wouldnt worry about that.
I got a faint positive only a month after a mc which remained quite faint for a while but am now 23 wks.
Take it easy and TRY and get on with your life. I know time stands still at your stage but there is nothing you can do to give this pg a chance that is better than looking after yourself, keeping the stress under control and taking things day by day.

Congrats and good luck x

I had a MMC and had an erpc.when I got pregnant again (about 3 months later) I was really paranoid and couldn't really enjoy the pregnancy until I could feel the baby move.
I also paid for a private scan at 8 weeks to put my mind a rest a little bit.
Good luck.

mrsrobinredbreast · 17/02/2011 09:33

CC, are you me???

I have just been to see my GP this morning who worried me further by asking "but do you feel pregnant?". This after I told him my cycle had been all over the place since ERPC last September.

I don't have any words of wisdom to offer but just wanted to let you know that you weren't alone. Can we hold each other's hand???

owlbooty · 17/02/2011 09:46

Morning lovelies :)

You are not alone. In fact, there's a whole bunch of us over on in Conception lurking on a thread called something like Freak out room - if you feel the need to vent/worry/get a bit of support please do feel free to join us :)

cc1983 · 17/02/2011 10:01

thanks mumcah :) jasmine 51, i know... I am really busy at work at the moment but i keep waking up earlier and earlier and thats when it gets me ;) Mrsrobinredbreast quite possibly. I've just panic booked a Drs appointment for 11. Worried he'll say the same thing. Actually I'm worried he'll say anything at all. Its the same Dr i had for the last pregnancy and last time all he did was say congratulations and book an appt with midwife! let me know how you're getting on though. Maybe we can bring each other good luck! :) and owlbooty. Thanks, sounds perfect I.m there.. . .!

Thanks owl, I have popped over to the freak out thread, aptly describes how I am feeling right now!

CC - Hope your doc is helpful this time round.

hubbahubster · 17/02/2011 11:19

I totally feel your stress. Me ? MMC and ERPC in June, no period until October, pregnant straight away and now I'm 17 weeks.

I've had virtually no symptoms which, quite apart from making me feel lucky, has just made me paranoid. By 10 weeks I was in tears to DH, since my only two symptoms (sore boobs/loss of appetite) had gone and I was convinced I was having another MMC. 12 week scan comes around and I'm expecting to be told, 'I'm sorry, there's no heartbeat' ? instead I'm told I'm 13 weeks, not 12, and little wriggler is larging it like he's at a rave!

The paranoia never goes away ? I was equally terrified that the midwife wouldn't find a heartbeat at 16 weeks, although all was fine ? but please be reassured that the further you get, the more remote the chance of a disaster. It's hard not to worry, and I know you'll be too stressed to enjoy the pregnancy right now, but there WILL be a point when you realise, 'Hey, this is actually happening!' And it'll be like spotting a rainbow after a rainstorm. Promise :)

berri · 17/02/2011 13:14

By the way cc, I felt so very different with the two pregnancies - the first I had terrible morning sickness and really 'felt' pregnant. But the second with my now 2 year old, I didn't feel pregnant at all, had no symptoms whatsoever and was actually quite surprised when I started to show!

I remember having a very early scan to check the baby was actually there as I was wondering whether the pg hormones were still hanging around from the mmc - so silly!

Enjoy - you're making me broody again! :)

cc1983 · 17/02/2011 19:44

Hubba and berri, you've made me feel a bit better:) my Dr was rubbish. He told me to retest in a week and if it was still faint come back for blood test. Honestly... Its just fret fret fret wait wait wait! Last time i was just excited ( and now have a premature cupboard of outfits and play things) this time i think i shant allow myself to get excited until its made it to 21;) x

CC congratulations :)

GP sounds rather unhelpful, poor you. Is there an Early Pregnancy Unit at your local hospital? Can you ring them and ask them for their advice? Hopefully they'll then get you in for a lovely, reassuring early scan :)

hmmm ...telling someone who's lost one not to worry though a subsequent pregancncy is a bit like telling them not to breathe! The only thing you can do is take it one day at a time. Those milestones do come round and make it a bit easier each one you go through. Try to keep calm(ish) and send positive vibes to your baby :)

FWIW, my faint positive after a mc is now a 13 month old little treasure. Good luck :)

jenga079 · 17/02/2011 21:17

Congratulations!!!

Sorry that your GP has been vague and unhelpful. I agree with the others who have suggested contacting the EPU. They will be used to dealing with people who have previously miscarried and may arrange blood tests or an early scan.

FWIW, my faint positive after mc is now a tiny bump at 17 weeks pregnant. I'm still scared every day and each time I go to the loo I expect to find blood in my pants (TMI?!) but so far, so good. Smile

preghead · 17/02/2011 21:25

So how many weeks do you think you might be? Once you get to 7 ish weeks you should be able to get an early scan and, hopefully, see a little heartbeat which cuts the odds of subsequent mc much less (never zero though of course). I have had 1 mc and 3 successful pregnancies and had early scans with all 3 which were very reassuring, fingers crossed for you .

cc1983 · 18/02/2011 13:04

blondie and jenga, first off congrats to both you and your little faint lines:) the epu where i am is sadly just as rubbish as my Dr i think:) after the scan showing the mmc i had to ring them for the follow up scan . When i got there i was left in the waiting room for 40 mins with all the happy birth stuff and heavily preg women before someone came and ushered me into the correct waiting room. And they Were grumpy! But i may try next week :) and preghead its been nearly 6 weeks since lmp but i haun't a clue when i o.vd as my cycle is or was still odd. So probably a little while before i can go for a scan! Again? Thank you all for being so lovely and supportive :)

preghead · 18/02/2011 18:02

So you could only be 4 weeks or so so faint line could be reasonable - I know it's hard to wait, test again in a few days xx

Tezbean · 18/02/2011 18:35

Hi

I had a MMC in October and an ERPC in November. Now 13 weeks pregnant. I completely understand the fear. I didn't believe the test when I did it and have spent weeks convinced it would all go wrong. I went to my local EPU at 6 weeks and 9 weeks and kicked up a fuss until they gave me a scan. It really helped.

Good luck xx

cc1983 · 19/02/2011 13:35

hello! :) just to let you know i tested again this morning convinced it was ectopic or failing and finally the line is dark. Not that that means a huge amount, but right now I'm taking that as good news! Tez, congratulations:) think i will try and follow suit with early scan:)
