Pampering treatments for Pregnant friend

Hello! I'm hoping that all of you pregnant ladies can help me out. I am meeting up with a friend for a girl's weekend away this weekend and she is currently 25 weeks pregnant. She has been suffering terribly with sickness and dizziness and has some problems caused by the pregnancy with her haemoglobin levels and so she has to take it easy.

Anyway, I thought that she is not feeling up to our usual mammoth shopping trip, coffee and cakes and cinema that we would normally do when we meet up that I would get some of the nibbles she likes and also take some little pamper treatments so that we could have face packs or give ourselves pedicures etc while we relax and watch films in the hotel room.

I was wondering if you could recommend any nice home treatments that are suitable for pregnancy and also remind me of what things are not recommended during pregnancy as I seem to have forgotten all that stuff!

Many thanks! Smile

What a lovely friend! I want one!

I have been dizzy a lot so understand her pain there.

As far as treatments ect I dont think there are any home ones you cant do just keep in mind some peoples skin gets more sensitive when pregnant so the sensitive stuff is best. I really enjoy and very impressed with my DH's new pedicure and foot massage skills.

I think Boots actually do a Sanctuary range especially for mum to be's.

I hope you have a great time x

Alot of essential oils say not to use while pg. You do seem very thoughtful. I want to be your friend too Grin

My friend bought me some lovely Mum to Be from Sanctuary for Xmas. Or if you are feeling flush you could splash out on some MamaMio stuff for her. As cowboylover said, you just need to be careful as skin can go a bit funny but the pregnancy specific things tend to be well balanced for purpose so you should be ok if you stick to those.

I would be careful with foot massage tho, there are reflexology points on the sole of the foot that can be used to stimulate labour, you don't want to be going near those at 25 weeks!

In terms of treatments I don't think any of the things you can do in your hotel room are off limits. Obviously if the hotel has a sauna then thats off limits and also the hot tub/whirl pool probably wouldn't be a good idea either although you can get away with it if a/ its not too hot and b/ you don't switch the bubbles on (think thats something to do with getting water up your foof/infection risk! lovely)

Have a lovely time, I am sure what ever you do she will appreciate as you are being a very thoughtful friend.

That's such a lovely thought - the only thing I would say is if she's been feeling really sick then maybe it's worth either checking which products she likes, or finding something that isn't very scented?

I was sick all the way through my pregnancy with DD and couldn't use anything perfumed at all except for Clarins stuff for some reason. A friend bought me Mama Mio and another bought me the Sanctuary stuff but they really made me feel ill, as did Bio-Oil!

I think a pedicure is a brilliant idea - if she's feeling dizzy she probably won't want to bend over to do her toes (or might not be able to reach depending on the bump) and that would be a really nice treat.

Sorry to not post sooner, I had to do the DC's tea and baths! Thank you so much for all the replies! I had forgotten that Sanctuary do a Mum-to-be range, so I'll have a look in Boots when I go into town on Thursday. I love their stuff, so I'm sure I'll find some nice bits! Will look out for the Mama Mio stuff, too. Don't mind spending a bit more as her B-day is next week anyway, so will be a nice treat!

I had also forgotten about the essential oils, so I'll make sure to stay clear of anything like that! I was so up to speed on all of this stuff while I was PG myself, but seem to have forgotten it all now! Smile

I don't think she has any issues with smells as she says she can eat anything and wear normal products, she just keeps actually being sick and feeling bad, but I'll make sure not to get anything too perfumed as I remember the feeling of smelling something and it sending you rushing to the toilet!!

The hotel is just a Holiday Inn that we booked ages a go as it was just supposed to be a base to drop our shopping bags Grin so no spa there, but we will just watch a couple of the pay-per-view films and have a catch up instead!

Thanks again for all of the replies!
