I'm 22 wks pg and have been suffering with nausea from pretty much day one, I have also had the most horrid cold since November.

To top it off I have low blood pressure and now feel even worse and am really struggling to do anything normal.I seem to spend me day dragging myself through what I need to do and then collapsing on the sofa at the 1st chance. HELP I am going mad, I dont want to feel like this for another 18wks!

I went to the docs yesterday and she was typically unsympathetic and said to pretty much get on with it!

Sad

Lots of sleep. Lots of water. Don't do ANYTHING you don't have to (it turns out that the world doesn't stop). Eat when your body tells you to. You may be one of the unfortunate few who feels dreadful throughout pg, but take heart - I was in a similar state until past 20 weeks then suddenly felt a lot better for no apparent reason.

You're more than half way there...

Thanks- I know its the pregnancy hormones making me emotional, I am just soooooo fed up of this nauseas feeling and light headedness I seem to be feeling even when resting.

Glad, well not glad obviously, that its fairly standard to feel c*!

Grr, I hate it when GPs and other HCPs are unsympathetic Angry some people breeze through pregnancy, others have a really rough time.

You could ask for a blood test, I think you would normally have one at 28 weeks but you ask for it to be brought forward so they can check your iron levels.

I had really awful sickness with DD but it did get a lot better towards the end. Let's hope the next 18 weeks fly by for you!

prettywhiteguitar · 15/02/2011 08:55

i feel totally breathless all the time, i felt better for a bit but back to the sofa again for us !

Totally sympathise with being exhausted with the nausea. It's not fair ! Have you tried the travel bands ? they take the edge off a bit so you can walk places.

kitcat83 · 15/02/2011 09:09

Thanks ladies, glad to know it WILL get better. PRETTY- I have not tried the bands yet no, but will dig mine out now! Thanks. Can sympathise with the breathless thing, horrid.

EauRouge- am going to ring my MW in a mo to see if I can get a blood test, enough is enough

Me too!! I'm also 22 weeks and feeling rubbish all the time still. I have very low blood pressure - which the midwife doesn't seem bothered about at all - but it is making life difficult as everything is such an effort. I feel like I'm practically in a coma I am so tired and slow all the time.
I think the medical profession is just glad we don't have high blood pressure.

I'll be counting down the next 18 weeks with you!

Hi Kitkat, I am on my second pregnancy and have suffered much more with this one than the first, to such an extent that I could not even lurk on MN as scrolling up and down a computer screen made me feel sick!

My nausea also started to ease as I passed 20 weeks, only to return when I caught a cold that seemed to go on forever. I don't know if this will help you, but I found that chewing gum helped me feel better as it seemed to get rid of the (TMI) horrible snotty lump that would sit permanently at the back of my throat, making me feel sick.

As Oneof4 says, rest when you can, and try to slow down as much as possible. You soon won't have the choice - I'm now 38 weeks and am practically stuck to the sofa with CBeebies babysitting dd in the corner! There are a million and one things I am itching to do around the house, but actually they are even less likely to get done once the baby is born, so we might as well get used to living in a pigsty sooner rather than later Grin

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and hope you start feeling better soon.

Thanks fifthpie and casabevron!

Its so nice to know I am not alone, I so dont remember it being this difficult with DS.

Incindently went to the docs again today and saw a different doctor who diagnosed me with synasytus (SP?!!) so hopefully the antibiotics will kick in to help me breathe, kind of important when constantly breathless from the low blood pressure! Smile

Good luck with your pregnancies, hope everything goes well for you all x

Sorry you are feeling so crap! You might try a month of Spatone? It gets your iron levels up without any of the constipation that you might get if you get prescription iron tablets. Also don't know if you feel this is a bit 'woo' but western and eastern medicine have a very different view of what counts as 'anemic' so even tho your GP might take a blood test and say you are 'normal' that could still mean you would benefit from the extra iron.

I am 25 weeks now and still feeling knackered some days, I get bad indigestion pains (they thought I had gallstones but all scans are clear, thank god!) which also makes me feel sick/tired/headachey. I am 'lucky' though as I am only PT now, I don't think I could cope with a full time job right now!! Take care of yourself and sleep whenever you can. Its not forever and its going to all be worth it when you have your lovely baby!

rocketleaf · 15/02/2011 18:59

Sorry don't know how I missed your last post. Hope the antibiotics do the trick!

mucus membranes change when you are pregnant and secret more gunk. it may not be a cold but just another pregnancy symptom.
