I have 4 ds who I adore and was quite happy that my family was complete. However found out back in Oct that we were expecting dc5 it was a massive shock and I have really struggled to deal with it. Anyway we had the 20 week scan yesterday and found out we are having a little girl. I just can't belive it I am so so happy. I don't usually belive in fate but it honestly feels like she was meant to be. Slightly scared though as I know nothing about girls !!

Hurrah - I have both - girls are infinitely easier because they don't need taking to casualty every week when they boink themselves on walls. Wink

Oh course you know about girls - you were one!

BarbieLovesKen · 15/02/2011 09:47

Oh thats lovely. Huge congratulations. Was just about to say the same as BikeRunSki Grin you will be fine. Also, in my experience (despite little boys being gorgeous and mischievious and daring and fun) girls are well.. just easier

TotorosOcarina · 15/02/2011 09:51

Girls are easier?!

I ahve 2 boys (6&4) and they are angels compared to their horror bag sister who is 2 years old but already talks back to be and is as stubborn as a mule!

I am (thankfully!!) expecting another boy in May and am glad as I could not cope with another madam in the house!

TotorosOcarina · 15/02/2011 09:51

Congrats by the way!!

Its very different but very lovely, DD is gorgeous anprety good really Wink

happymummy1975 · 15/02/2011 09:53

I have two girls and a little man, they are fab! Congratulations to you-thats definately meant to be!

x

BarbieLovesKen · 15/02/2011 10:24

Oh God yes! totorosOcarino, in this house anyway. DD is quiter and more organised and very particular. Shes very, very independant and prefers to do things for herself, shes a real little "mother" herself and loves helping.

DS.. PML. A small monster, who would rather I scratch his bum for him than do it himself, hes into everything, loves mess and chaos and noise - hes absolutley fabulous though and has so many gorgeous "boy" traits too..

Pah.. maybe its nothing to do with gender at all. Maybe its just personality. That said, all my family have said the same about boys and girls.

Both are brilliant!! Grin

mummysweeangel · 15/02/2011 10:25

aw thats wonderfull news blueberry jam :) :) :)

you will be fine with a girl, being that you have already brought up 4 other children -

lovely news for you all !

Congrats !! :) :) :) xxxxx

ShowOfHands · 15/02/2011 10:28

Doesn't matter whether you know anything about 'girls'. You know how to love a baby.

Gender is irrelevant. I know as many mud-splattered, welly-wearing, boisterous girls as I do sensitive, shy, docile boys.

Congratulations. Your baby will be a unique, wonderful little person. Lovely that you're feeling so positive.

TobyLerone · 15/02/2011 10:29

Ha! I have one of each, and my daughter was an absolute horror compared to my son. From conception onwards! She was my second baby though -- I don't know if that has more to do with it than the fact she's a girl.

Now, though, she's almost 10 and 90% angelic. She's incredibly helpful and sweet. Unless she's being a mardy beast, that is!

I remember worrying when I found out I was having a boy first. I'm one of 4 girls and the first to produce a grandchild, so we'd had no experience with boys at all. But we worked it out :)

TobyLerone · 15/02/2011 10:30

Also, congratulations Grin

BarbieLovesKen · 15/02/2011 10:42

Actually now that I think of it Toby, I was the same, I was really worried when I found out ds was a boy (although I was delighted) because I felt I just didnt know what to do with a little boy!!.

I had a lot of experience with little cousins/ babysitting/ own dd etc. .but all girls.

Completely unfounded worries. All is fine, I dont think I've done him any damage and like with dd, just comes naturally.

BikeRunSki · 15/02/2011 13:20

My mum had 2 of each.

She says "Boys mess up your house, girls mess up your mind". We've all turned out OK though.

ThatllDoPig · 15/02/2011 18:04

Congratulations! It's lovely to have a mixture . .or not! whatever! you will love her.
I remember a reality birth program once, where the mum had 4 boys then a girl, and it was a surprise. The dad had tears running down his face and saying, you can go and buy 'all that pink shit' now!
Enjoy the changes to your family.

nicolamumof3 · 15/02/2011 18:13

wow congratulations!! i'll fall off the bed if i find out im having a girl after three boys!

BikeRunSki · 15/02/2011 18:16

I bet her big bros will adore her. I was the first girl after 2 boys, and they have always been fab and looked out for me, looked after me. It can be a bit suffocating at times (we are in our 40s now) but lovely. There is always someone on my side! (I don't get that with my sister who is 3 years younger.)
