Hi Mums,

I'm currently 36 weeks and my skin feels like it can't give anymore. i've got 2 teeny tiny stretch marks (thank god touch wood for no more!!) on my left hip area but no others.

I have never been so uncomfortable in my life and feel as though i can't breathe as my skin won't give way to let me take a breath..

is this normal??

I've been told i'm having an above average size baby so not sure if this has anything to do with it..

also where is best to get Muslin squares from? i've seen a few but don't want to make a wrong buy.

Thanks in advance :)

I feel a bit like this now and I-m only 25 weeks.

totally normal. muslin squares are muslin squares. they get dirty, stained, boiled, marked and then thrown out! go for the cheapest and get plenty!

Oh god, being PG was 9 months of discomfort. My post labour war wounds were pretty bad, but I was so grateful to no longer be pg!

I'm with Pipoca. I'm 27 weeks and I just want it to end! Sympathies for the OP at 36 weeks! I've had trapped nerves, shortness of breath and general waddling misery for about 10 weeks now... I look at old photos of myself rock climbing etc and just can't imagine ever getting back there!

Zimbah · 13/02/2011 19:47

I'm 27 weeks and already pretty uncomfortable, I know it's only going to get worse.

Muslin squares - not all are alike! My MIL bought some mega-cheap ones and to be honest they were rubbish, they had tiny holes all over more like a dish-rag and they weren't absorbent at all, so pretty much useless. But all others I've bought from different places have been fine, there's no need to get fancy ones just as long as they don't feel really flimsy.

Yes, unfortunately it is normal to be uncomfortable towards the end. I've got 5 days left til my EDD and I'm going nuts! It's nature's way of making sure that when you do go into labour you feel bloody relieved more than scared Grin

I think I got my muslin squares from Mothercare, it was before DD was born so I can't remember exactly. It might have been John Lewis. Either way, they've lasted very well and I'm not having to buy any more for DC2.

Good luck with the labour!

FirstTimeMum1 · 13/02/2011 21:14

Thanks everyone :)

Glad to know it's normal!! Bring on labour then (although I'm sure that attitude won't last long on the day!)

EauRouge I cannot imagine how you must feel right now! Must be such a relief to finally have your body back in 5 days (hopefully!) hope all goes well :) I'll be dragging the Hubby to John Lewis and Mothercare tomorrow!!

So far I've bought cheapish muslins from BabiesRus (£7 for 10 IIRC) and some slightly pricier ones from John Lewis (£7.50 for 6?). Not used them yet, but having washed them the JL ones are much better quality, seem more absorbent etc. I'll be getting more JL ones I suspect.

I'm 35w too and it's definitely getting more uncomfy and much more tiring. But on the plus side the movements still have me giggling and grinning many times a day Grin

clouiseg · 13/02/2011 22:50

Well I got my muslin squares from good old ASDA!!

Bought a load 2 years ago for DD and still use them now to mop up messy dinnertimes etc!

Expecting DC4 in May and already stocked up!

I got from asda too and they were fine
It is normal feeling like that but I think your bigger than average baby is making it worse, one of mine was bigger and the last few weeks were so much more uncomfier than my normal sized first one, but atleast not too much longer to go
