Which pregnancy pilates DVD?

Before getting pregnant I was pretty fit and active with walking daily to work and karate 3 times a week.

Am now 7 weeks and sick every day so I have very low energy levels and obviously I have had to stop karate as the classes are very much contact/sparring etc.

However I want to do something whilst waiting for the sickness to stop and thought of doing pilates. Where I live classes are horrendously expensive (think 600 pounds/year, or 10 pounds a class) so I thought about buying a DvD and doing it at home.

My question : which DVD to buy??? I've looked on Amazon and there are about 10 choices.

Any recommendations?

Can you not do kata in your karate class?

Personally I would pay the money for a class if you want to do pilates - pilates done wrong can mess you up good and proper. At the very least get the basics down with a good practitioner before doing a pregnancy DVD.

Alternatively I got a very good pregnancy yoga book from WHSmiths in concorde which had some gentle and surprisingly energy boosting exercises.

Message might have some ideas for cheaper classes if you've joined up to them yet - I know I used to see ante-natal yoga advertised and there might be a PAYG pilates
class as well.

Thanks snap

I tried karate at first but we really do too much partner work for me to carry on. Plus I'm almost the only woman there so it's very physically demanding.

Will pop into Smiths and see what books they have. I generally try to avoid going there as I leave far too much money behind! Grin

Hadn't thought of using message! d'oh! I'd googled classes but the cheapest I'd found was 25 euros or something like that and it wasn't centre Paris.

The other thing to look at is any gym which offers Les Mills classes and do Bodybalance which is a mixture of tai chi, yoga and pilates (although you will have to do pregnancy modifications from about 13 weeks - just let the instructor know, they're usually pretty clued up). The current choreography is quite pregnancy friendly but you don't eat for a couple of hours before as there are a fair few inversions!

I would ask my lovely instructor if she could recommend one as she used to work in Paris but she's on holiday for 2 weeks. Or I can let you know the gym I used to go to but I have no idea where in Paris you are!

I had the 10 minute solutions one, but as I am used to pilates I found it too low impact and did normal pilates until about 18 weeks, pilates on the ball with a bump is mad.
Anyhow, it's decent and has a good postnatal section.
