I have been VERY sick so i'm worried something may be wrong.

I already have a almost 5 yr old DS and a 12 month DD and was VERY shocked to discover a positive pregnancy test this morning Shock
The only reason I took the pregnancy test is because I have been really ill for the past 2 weeks and DH got it for me to take the other day but I was feeling so ill I forgot until today. I started off with lossing my voice and a terrible cough then last Sunday I started actually being sick and that went on until yesterday morning (I couldn't hold food or fluids down for 6 days) I saw a GP who gave me Prochlorpezine for the sickness, now i'm worries they may have caused harm to the baby.

I'm really worried about this pregnancy as I have so much gooing on at the moment, I just got offered a uni place to do primary teaching for Sep, I'm currently doing an access course and I got a 9 week old puppy yesterday!

I'm not sure what I'm looking for in way of reply's but I needed to vent my stress somewhere as DH is out for the day (probably not enjoying himself to much given the shocking news!)

Any support what so ever would be great.

Thanks xx

Sorry just to add, the reason I am worried is because before I had DD I had a missed miscarriage at around 12 weeks and that pregnancy started in a similar way with the sickness (sever cold)

I don't have any experience or knowledge of severe morning sickness. But, I bet you could defer your place for a year if that would work for your circumstances? Then you could still complete your access course and train the puppy before the baby arrives.

Hi Becks

I'm expecting DC3. I'm about 9 weeks. I was NEVER this sick with previous pregnancies. This time round I have felt awful from the week before I took the test, so around day 21 after LMP. I knew I would get a BFP when I took the test. The nausea has been 24-7, day and night and headaches and exhaustion. We worried thought we might be expecting twins. I had a scan this week as I had some bleeding, all is fine, but the week before the bleeding I had an awful virus, headache, sore throat and vomiting for two days. Couldn't get out of bed. All is fine.

I am sure you are worried about the tablets but remember there are so many women who do and take all the things they say you shouldn't when pregnant, because they don't realise they are yet. My friend was taking ibuprofen for a back problem for weeks before she found out. All was fine for her baby.

As for the surprise of finding yourself pregnant, sometimes life for whatever reason throws us these curveballs. I know you are shocked, for me there's never been a perfect time for a baby. One positive is that your 12 month old will have a playmate. Can you sit down and rework your plans to delay for another year?

You're in shock, that's OK, for some being pregnant isn't always met with great joy to start with. That's OK, don't feel guilty. Just take each day at a time at the moment. Read back over some threads, there's are lots of women shocked at the BFP because the timing is crap but as they collect their thoughts they feel more sorted.

Not sure this helps at all but just wanted to reply to you. Good luck

Thank you so much, I really needed that. I'm happy that all (apart from the terrible MS) is going well with you and mini bump.

After spending the day with just my thoughts as company I feel a lot better, everything happens for a reason Hmm I think I will carry on with my course and defer uni until next year.

I have to say though, I'm actually VERY worried about telling family as they are very judgmental and having another so soon after the last will raise a few eyebrows, also I had a terrible last pregnancy and on my way home from the hospital my mum begged me not to have any more children as I was so ill.

Prochlorperazine isn't going to hurt, I took it when I was pg too.

My mother also begged me not to have any more!

Becky, I hope this pregnancy is better than the last one. Please try not to worry too much.
Three is a great number, it will be fine and your littlest ones will be very close xx

Im nearly 10 weeks

have been on antisickness drugs for 2 weeks so far and cant see me coming off them anytime soon

I have hyperemisis (extream sickness) and have been hospitalised as a result.... they didnt scan or anything, all the midwifes said having bad sickness means you have loads of hormones and that is really good for baby!!!!

certainly doesnt feel that way at the time, and having lost a stone and barely eaten a decent meal for a month i cant understand how its good for baby!

In regards to you starting uni in september, i'm currently a 2nd year student and due in March so the last semester and 3rd year will be accompanied by a newborn bambino! the uni have been really helpful and are letting me dictaphone all my lectures so i can do the majority of it from home, and just go in for what i need to do. Student finance (if you're getting any) also pay 85% of your childcare fees and uni's normally have a nursery/creche facility that will look after bambinos while your occupied in a lecture or a tutorial. have you spoke to them yet? they often let you defer a year so they keep your place and you can start next september but you might be able to work round it or maybe do part-time?

Hope all goes well :)
