Bleeding at 11 weeks

Hi all just needing some advice and reassurance and offering some too!

11 weeks pregnant and started bleeding a small amount yesterday - brown in colour but with no pain.

Luckily I had the number of the delivery suite at the hospital - as it was a weekend she advised me to either see the GP straight away or go to A&E and then hopefully be referred to the Early Pregnancy Unit where they would do some tests - urine sample, blood tests, belly check and then hopefully a scan.

A&E were really helpful checked me out and I have a scan with the EPU on Monday - so fingers crossed!

I wanted to put this here as I would not have known about any of this without speaking to the midwife in the delivery suite and have found the advice from the NHS/GPs about pregnancy confusing and contradictory at times.

If you have a bleed - get it checked out straight away and go get tests - it will probably be fine - but do it soon. I was also told that as I am O neg. blood type- that even with a first pg they should give you the Anti-D injection within 72 hours of the bleed.

I had bleeding at 11 weeks with DS2 and at 12 weeks with DS3 - DS2 born absolutely fine and DS3 due in 2 weeks time.

It is very scary and very worrying but you are right best advice is to get checked out asap so you stop worrying.

If you go to A&E you may be lucky that they can send you to the Early Pregnancy Assesment Unit if still open, or they will schedule you for first thing the next day.

When I went it was too late in the day but was able to go to a private clinic over the raod from Chelsea & Westminster and get a scan there that night which confirmed baby was ok.

As you say all very scary but best thing to do is try to get some rest. Bleeding is quite common around this stage apparently.
