Is this right??

I've just been and spoken to the receptionist at our doctors surgery.

I don't have to see the doctor. I've filled in a form for the midwife.

The midwife doesn't see me until 10 weeks! No one until then even checks that I am pregnant. I've been asked for nothing, no urine, no blood. Hmm

Is it only me slightly freaking out that no one is checking i'm actually pregnant??

From a crazy hormonal lady!!!

Call the midwife.

OP - Please, please contact your midwife and explain your symptoms of shoulder pain and cramping to her. As Snice said, shoulder tip pain can be a sign of ectopic pregnancy and shouldn't be ignored - everything might be completely fine, but it is definitely best to be checked over just to be sure.

WRT to antenatal appointments - I had my first appointment at 8wks, primarily because my pregnancy with DD was high risk (early onset PIH and PE) and I had also suffered a mc at 11+1 after having DD due to chickenpox and they wanted to retest my immunity to VZV, the virus that causes chickenpox. When my mum was pregnant with me, the advice then was to see the GP after missing your SECOND period - i.e. you would already be approx 8wks before they would even confirm pregnancy.

I truly hope everything is OK and your midwife is able to see you ASAP.

Thank you everyone, I have contacted my MW and left a message on her answerphone, hopefully she'll be able to get back to me shortly to put my mind at rest.

Thank you all for your words of advise, fingers crossed all will be well Smile

I've just heard from the MW, told her all my symptoms and she said nothing to worry about she doesn't think. Told me to keep an eye out and ring back if anything more, but she seems to be ok with it all.

Thank you again everyone for making me get it checked out Smile
