Has anyone else been in a similar position? I am really hoping to have a natural birth, but my baby hasn't decided to turn yet?

Any similar stories, or advice for helping the baby turn?

Thanks!!

Just sympathetic thoughts here, I'm 34+2 and my baby's breech and has been for a few months as far as I'm aware. There is loads of advice out there for helping the baby turn - search for other breech threads and see the 'spinning babies' website - and I'm trying most of them but to no avail so far. To be honest I can't imagine my baby moving - it seems so solidly wedged, bum in my pelvis and head under my ribs, and I have a tiny bump so not much room for it to turn. Have you had a scan to check the position and has anyone talked to you about whether or not they might offer you ECV (to turn the baby manually)? I've got a scan in a couple of weeks. I was also really hoping for a natural birth (in the birthing pool, calm and relaxed, then escape home after a few hours... lol!), but am now trying to mentally prepare myself in case it's going to be a caesarean, as frankly I'm scared. I've been trying to tell myself that even if I had a 'natural' birth there is no guarantee it wouldn't end up in CS or instrumental delivery anyway so though a planned CS would be disappointing, it's not necessarily going to be any worse than what I could have ended up with anyway. I am sad at the thought of missing out on the birth 'experience' but then again there are plenty of people thoroughly traumatised by their experiences of 'natural' birth who I'm sure in hindsight would swap places with me at the drop of a hat. Saying that though there are plenty of stories of babies turning really late so yours may turn yet - here's hoping.

Hi Nello

I'm currently 32+2 with my second pregnancy and have been breech since 28 weeks. I'm scared stiff at the thought of it not turning although everyone is telling me not to worry yet. I had a good labour & birth with DD (although at 36+2) so desperate for a similar experience.

My midwife has told me to spend time on all fours to give the baby extra room to move, but no luck so far.

As diyqueen says you might be able to have a ECV - I think they tend to have a 50%ish success rate. You should ask your midwife.

Sorry I can't offer more advice, but good luck. I've heard of babies turning up until 38 weeks so you've still got time.

Good luck!!

Is there a pregnancy yoga class near you? I go to one every week and she has never had a breech baby in any of her clients, we do poses that help your baby get into position. Maybe you could give that a go aswell see if it helps.

No, unfortunately not. I'm living in Mexico currently and finding it hard to get access to anything!!

Oh thats a shame,

yoga.about.com/od/prenatalyoga/a/thirdtrimester.htm

maybe this website might help you out if you wanted to try some yoga moves to move the baby.
