Haven't felt any movements since this morning, should I be worried?

Hi ladies, I would really appreciate you advice, and hopefully reassurance.
I'm 20 + 4 and have have been having feeling bean moving regularly for about the last week. I've realised that after being fairly active tins morning, i haven't felt anything since. I am not sure if it's connected, but have been really stressed at work for one reason or another, resulting in me being in tears.
Should i call the hospital number in my folder or just chill out and stop worrying?
Thanks. X

Drink something cold and/or sugary and see if that makes him wiggle. Used to with my DS.

It could be that Bean is having a rest, or that the stress at work has distracted you, or that he has changed his waking/sleeping patterns and has been bouncing around when you've been asleep.

No point asking us. Ring them. Worst they'll say is chill out and don't worry.

I'm 20+3 and have only been feeling movements since the weekend - it's really irregular and I can feel it less depending on where the baby is lying. It's probably just that the baby has moved into a different position where you can feel the moves less. But if you're worried I would give your midwife a call, there might be a drop-in you can go to to hear the heartbeat. Hope you're ok, pregnancy is more or less constant worrying isn't it?

i wd call hospital

TabithaTwitchet · 09/02/2011 20:16

I would try eating/drinking something - ice cream? chocolate? very cold water and lying down and relaxing for a bit to see if you feel anything.
I don't think it's anything to be worried about - maybe you just didn't notice movements today becaused you were stressed and thinking of other things - but if calling the number would help you to relax, then I would go ahead and do it - sometimes its better to feel you are doing something than sitting and worrying.

I think it's unlikely to be something to worry about at this stage, and it's fairly easy for the baby to move into a position where you can't feel them so much. And I've certainly been in that position where stress/busy day can keep you from noticing movements. Having said that, it won't do any harm to call the hospital, they'll probably reassure you.

Have you had your 20 week scan yet?

mrstickle77 · 09/02/2011 20:24

20 weeks is very early for regular movements. I didn't even feel baby at all before 22. I was told not to monitor until about 28, as before then patterns aren't established, and like pozzles says, they are small enough to tuck themselves away where you can't feel anything. The position of your placenta will also play a part in how much you feel.

I'm sure its nothing to worry about, but the cold water is a tip, and also a lie down.

Im 26+6 and realised lunchtime I hadnt felt one of mine move since yesterday (im having my 2nd lot of twins) and got told to go straight in and be monitored but ended up having a scan instead. I tried all the fixxy cold drink, sweet food the lot and nothing would budge him. Hes ok though.

I dont think our hospital see people before 24 weeks for movement etc but wont hurt to ring and ask.

OompaLumpa · 09/02/2011 20:30

Hey all thank you for your responses, I really do appreciate it. Am going to lie down on the sofa with a cold glass of wine squash and see how things go.
I have been so stressed today i can see how i could have just missed things.
harrygracejessica congratulations on your second set of twins!
Will review late, don't want to hassle the hospital.
Thanks again to all xx

Has it been long since you have eaten? During one of my pregnancies they told me to drinnk lucozade and baby started moving within minutes!

OompaLumpa · 09/02/2011 21:27

Your advice worked! Just had some jelly tots (any excuse) and a cold false of squash with lots of ice, and can now definitely feel some rumblings!
Am so relieved, thank you.
A great end to a really crap day Smile
