I missed my 28 week blood test due to having swine flu. How important is it. This is my fifth baby (all boys!!!)and never had any problems before and would rather not have it to be honest. Usually have to wait in a queue for an hour for bloods to be done at Doctor's and always feel hot and faint in there. But starting to play on my mind now at 33 weeks. Thanks for reading!

Call your midwife and check but you might be able to have them done at your local children's centre, which is usually less busy or at the hospital antenatal unit. Given that you're 33 weeks already then you could also ask to have them at your next midwife appointment.

I think the important thing is checking iron levels so try to be sure you're getting enough. I'm not sure what else they check for at 28 weeks.

Just go when you can get them done. They check your iron and general other blood tests. Prob best to go really. As if your not well/not been well and things it might of knocked your system a bit? Its not nice waiting just ask when you get there or ring before and say I dont feel too good dont want to cause a problem can I just go straight in explain your situation they might help?

Get them done now, won't matter that its a bit late. They check your iron levels, also a random blood sugar to make sure you're not getting diabetes. They also do another group and save to make sure you've not developed any unusual antibodies.

The important one really is the iron level, if you;re anaemic you can bleed more afetr giving birth.

Ive asked if I have to have mine done - needle phobic, feeling sooo ill and totally knackered from work and told probably not as Im low risk for the things they test for (Iron very good - for a woman !!!)They'll brutalise me enough in labour I feel, without the extra hassle now :)

Think i better get it done now. Just read that ice cube cravings are related to iron levels being low!

Up to you really, I declined all blood tests in 2 and half of my pregnancies. They made me feel awful and I didn't want the pressure about iron levels.

Babies were fine, I took care to eat as much hem-iron as I could, etc. No regrets whatsoever. You usually know if you are problematically anemic.

i only had iron levels checked was not asked to have anything else done.
