Hi all,

was just wondering has anyone been feeling really strong kicks and movements this early on? I was expecting the bubbles/butterfly thing but instead what im getting is thuds quite low down at least 20 a day- I really didnt expect to feel them so strong as such an early stage, and im quite small too- they literally stop me in my tracks and make me cry out sometimes - much to the amusement of my colleagues!

i had strong kicks like that at 19 weeks i was small too, by the end my stomach was bruised to look at and he is now strong on his legs at 6 mo, the less fat you have the more you will feel baby kick

Hi there,

I am 23 weeks on Friday and my little girl was kicking the hell out of me at 1am the other night Shock

Don't remember this much movement so early with DD1. I had to get up and walk round a bit to move her in the end.

clouiseg · 08/02/2011 20:56

Well it looks like you've conceived a little footballer!

You may well get used to it as time goes on. Is it your first pregnancy? If so then its a heck of a strange thing to get used to! But have to say, even at 27 weeks with DC4 I still flinch at times...and they have a habit of making you squeak at the most inconvenient moments when they catch you 'there'!! Or burp.....as the tesco cashier learnt the other day! Grin

clouiseg - my husband will love the footballer comment! and yes this is my first pregnancy so i really wasnt expecting it- can't imagine wat the next few months have in store for me- actually had a really sore one not that long ago nearly dropped the laptop!!

lol Grin thats such a good sign! its a huge reassurance as time goes on, to know the little one is well & active.

I myself was awake most of the night with the riverdance being performed in my belly, and a bladder as a trampoline...so it does have its downsides Grin

Have you tried the remote control / empty mug on the bump trick yet? My DCs & friends love it, although the party trick will only last for another 3 months!

Bubandbump · 09/02/2011 11:03

Enjoy it as it's fun to start off with - I had the same.. Now 27 weeks and 3 nights of non sleep later...

But then they have a couple of days of being quieter (ie only 100 kicks a day instead of an hour) and then I start to worry..

Poor little baby can't win!

I use a water bottle on my bump with a bit of water in it - it has a very good aim and is much better than it kicking the iPad when I am trying to type...

Thanks for all your comments but my baby actually reduced me to tears last night with the kicking - its really low down in my pubic hair area its not so much pain just really horrible feeling the only thing i can compare it too is a really painful smear test i had a few yrs ago (sorry if tmi) I was going to ring midwife but then felt silly so didnt bother, does anyone know if this position is normal- it really far below my actual bump!?

Could you try and encourage the baby to move around? I find that both yoga and aqua-natal seem to make mine shift position. The cat pose in yoga is apparently particularly good for this!

sam26oscar · 09/02/2011 20:33

Does it feel like its going to escape from your fanjo??? If so then yes sorry completely normal albeit bloody uncomfortable and downright painful at times.
This is DC2 and am 37 weeks and have been belted down on my cevix since about 19 weeks!!
Completely agree with the painful smear comment though Wink

hilltop666 · 11/02/2011 20:16

had 20 wk scan y'day and baby's feet are right down there but all looks okay thank god got an unreal pic, the baby is the spit of my little cousin lol- just gonna have to put up with it! yoga could be an option.

I felt the first definite kick at 15 wks... This is my first

My little girl is now practicing her extreme cage fighting skills. At 19 weeks she was able to kick my arm off my tummy and daddy started to feel her around the same time.

I'm now 21 weeks and all I can say is.. Ouch!

LoopyLoopsPoopaScoop · 11/02/2011 23:37

Have you been impregnated by a vampire? You need to watch out, because it might bite you when it is born, and that won't be good news.

Seriously though, I'm 21 weeks and have had quite strong kicks for a few weeks, I think it's probably quite normal.

preggos · 12/02/2011 19:16

I've had very strong kicks since about 18 weeks. I'm now 36 weeks and I am kept up almost all night with her moving about and trying to get comfortable. It's so painful sometimes. I can grab her elbows and knees sometimes she stretches so much. If your baby is active now just wait till you get further on!!!
