Pressure upwards into chest area/painful to breathe

Hi, I have got a lot of pressure recently up into my chest area. It is so hard to breath deeply, very uncomfortable. I went to the dr today and they checked my heart and lungs and all was fine.
Could it perhaps be the baby moving upwards and putting pressure upwards? Has anyone had similar? It's very annoying as I cannot sleep well...

I had something like this - I think it was trapped wind, haven't had it before so it is just a guess though. I have put it down to my digestive changing as my little boy grows - another lovely part of pregnancy! I have had some luck eating smaller meals slower and making sure I burp (in private!) after eating and excusing myself when I feel the need to pass gas when ever I feel the need. Other options for managing it include camomile (sp?) tea, peppermint tea or products such as windeze from the pharmacy. You can also try getting on your knees and putting your forehead to the ground - like you are looking under the bed or sofa - this tends to allow a bit of 'release'!

Abdominal pain is also a symptom of pre eclampsia so please see your midwife or gp if you feel it fits this option.

I get upwards pressure towards the end of the day, when my bump is bigger, and notice it when sitting down. I had it when pregnant with DD and have noticed it in the past week or so with DC2 (am also 13 weeks).

I don't notice it lying down though.

I have assumed it's the baby/uterus moving my internal organs upwards and pressuring my lungs. I'm slightly asthmatic. Are you?

Cripes, you have reminded me of why I hated being pregnant so much. I found the breathlessness absolutely appalling - I felt as if I was going to expire for lack of air. Sad It didn't hurt - it was just (just???!) pressure, so not trapped wind in my case. The only cure for me was actually giving birth, I'm afraid...

Thanks, it disappeared after two days but was very painful. I think it was also trapped wind. I had tried camomile tea but it didn't help. I will try eating smaller meals now and also wearing trousers that fit so that wind isn't squished into me...

Ah the joys! Glad I am not suffering alone ;)
