Hi MrsVidic....if it were me, I wouldn't panic, I think its pretty normal - i just had my 16 week apptmt with my midwife and my blood pressure was so low she was surprised I hadn't been feeling faint. Funnily enough, later that day I had a bit of a funny turn in the middle of a hot shopping precinct and felt like I was going to keel over. Had to take a few layers off sit down and have something to eat.

My MW wasn't at all concerned about my low blood pressure, but if you're worried give yours a call.

SerenaJoy · 07/02/2011 12:37

I'm 21 weeks (with my first, so I'm no expert!), but I've been very close to fainting a few times, and everything has been fine, so I don't think it's necessarily anything to worry about.

I found that if I went too long without eating, or got too hot, I'd feel light headed, dizzy and sick. Have you eaten? If not maybe try some food and sip some water?

If that doesn't help call the midwife/doctor for advice - that's what they're there for! They'll know the right questions to ask to make sure everything's ok.

woolymindy · 07/02/2011 12:39

It is not very nice but entirely within the normal range of being pregnant. Why would you think it has anything to do with a miscarriage?

BertieBasset · 07/02/2011 12:42

Ah don't worry - perfectly normal. Just relax and keep your feet up for a bit.

When pregnant with dd I felt faint when sitting down on a train and had to go and sit on the floor of the loo so I could get my head between my legs. Hmmm those trousers went through a boil wash Grin

Make sure you are eating properly though.

lexxity · 07/02/2011 12:43

It's totally normal. With DS2 in the first trimester I passed out a few times but once I got to know the signs I sat down quickly and let it pass. If anyone can do, have them get you a drink of water. It lasted all the way through but it did get easier to cope with. You probably have low blood pressure.

CilantroLarry · 07/02/2011 12:44

I went through the same at around the same time. Would be fine one minute and then all of a sudden it was like being under water, whooshing ears, light head, voices distorted.

It was low blood pressure. Very, very common. I found being too hot or hungry to be the worst culprits.

Mention it to your midwife but try not to worry.

MrsVidic · 07/02/2011 13:08

thanks i called mw who said all is well. I had been to the gym and over done it. I left it too long before eating. I'm going to have to tell work now :-(

Mrs glad to hear you are ok. What I have noticed is that with my insides being squished by bump, I am not as good at judging when I am hungry. Generally I feel quite full all the time...then I fall over! I have to pay alot of attention to food planning, taking snacks whereever I go and really thinking about when I last ate and when I next need to eat so I dont get caught out.
I dont know whether others experience this too but I consider it training for when we have to be uber organised when our little ones come along!

mousymouse · 07/02/2011 13:18

don't worry too much, but tell your midwife when you see her next time. unfortunately it it quite common in pregnancy as the blood pressure changes quickly sometimes, especially when you have your arms above your head.
I fainted on the tube when I didn't know yet I was pregnant with dc1, was holding on above my head. scary, as I have never ever fainted before.

MommyMayhem · 07/02/2011 13:19

I have had 5 pregnancies and have fainted in 3 of them. It's nothing to worry about, really. Just blood sugar or something.

MmeLindt · 07/02/2011 13:20

I always had low blood pressure when I was pregnant. It is very common and if it dips too low then it can make you lightheaded and possibly faint.

Have a chat with your boss - I take it you wanted to wait a bit longer?

Put your feet up, eat some chocolate. Are you alone at home?

potplant · 07/02/2011 13:24

Do you mean they don't know you're pregnant at work? You could still fudge with not eaten all day and over exerted at the gym excuse.

jimper · 07/02/2011 13:40

Don't worry! At 15 weeks I fainted while walking up the aisle on a busy train Blush. I was told it is really common, and usually because you aren't eating properly or are overheating. Just relax for a while :)

freshmint · 07/02/2011 13:44

It means you have low blood pressure (and probably low blood sugar)

Low blood pressure is a very good thing in pregnancy Grin

I used to spend half my early pregnancies on the floor with my head between my knees (4 kids btw). Nothing wrong with that as far as the baby is concerned - not much fun for me though!

When you are further along midwives will compliment you extravagantly on your lovely blood pressure so there is some upside Wink

MrsVidic · 07/02/2011 13:53

thanks for all the replies. I.ve never fainted before and only popped into work to drop something off. potplant they don.t know i'm preg and i only started in january after waiting ages for my start date cause of crb checks. I'm going to have to tell them as they are worried. I just don.t know how. I am alone in house but my mum is dropping off my dd soon so i'll ask her to give me a hand as dd is an energetic toddler and i am shattered. I have eaten lots of home baked brownies and had a big lunch but still feel washed out.

Get your iron levels checked. You may be low on iron and that is causing you to be a bit woozy.

freshmint · 07/02/2011 13:58

I could barely move at that stage with all of them. No sickness, just bone aching tiredness. The sort of tiredness where I would sit on the edge of the bed desperate for a pee but not want to go because it involved movement...

You don't need to tell them if you don't want to - just say you feel awful and maybe virus but hope to be in tomorrow.

freshmint · 07/02/2011 13:59

good advice from mmelindt. if they are low now they'll be catastrophic later and you'll feel like crap...

JimmyChoo17 · 07/02/2011 14:31

Yep all good advice above. I think a few of you may have responded to a similar post I raised.

I had same at work this morning. Felt awful like someone had sucked the life out of me then I couldnt recover. I felt hot, sick and trying not to panic is hard :( So I did what every internet abiding work employee does...and came on here! I couldnt focus on work nor did I have somewhere to put my feet up! I have been unable to reach midwife so am asking GP to take bloods which I am assuming the nurse can do at my place.

I posted about something similar earlier - should you ever be worried when this happens ladies? Does it harm baby?

I am 17 weeks 2 days and only ever felt slightly whoozy in tescos once or twice. Im feeling like I did before my earlier episode now again...its an awful feeling.
