Just wondered what you wear in labour.
Do you wear a nightdress, long t-shirt or other?

I wore a t shirt. It was actually part of pjs but I took the bottoms off eventually!

Got back from the shops already in labour, walked upstairs, stripped off and got into the bath and only ever put a dressing gown back on for the next 10 hours. (I was at home though) Grin

(had thought I would feel more modest as my Mum was there and hadn't seen me naked since I was about 12, but once contractions kicked in, I didn't give two hoots)

I wore a t-shirt.

I'm very self-conscious and had a bra on underneath as well. By the end I was desperate to get the sodding t-shirt off but couldn't as I'd got a drip in my hand. If I'd have had more presence of mind I'd have asked the MW to cut it off.

Was induced though. Prior to the synto drip and after ARM had the t-shirt and a pair of joggers on to wander round the hospital.

I grabbed the nearest clean one of DH's T shirts. It was white. Oops.

First time I carefully selected an old nightie and put it on even though dd's head was crowning, I was determined to wear The Right Thing. Second time I was just in the vest top I went into hospital in - couldn't be bothered to change and luckily it was black!

I bought a cheap nightie-style long baggy shirt from Tesco which had deep buttons down the neck to enable skin-to-skin/BF after the birth without exposing my whole chest.

Not that I cared by then, to be honest.

Threw it away afterwards!

Primark cheapo nighties - handy for afterwards and still wearing them 2 years later! But actually gave birth in a hospital gown in the end

Wear whatever you're comfy in.

First time I wore a t-shirt (in a birthing pool) but actually gave birth in a hospital gown. Second time I wore the tunic I was wearing when I got the hospital. No time to change into anything else! Am rather attached to that tunic now Grin.

I wish I'd had a bikini top with me.

I wore a BIG nightie, socks and nothing else. I ended up in the birthing pool naked (impossible in a floaty nightie) and really wished I'd been able to cover up. Nobody else seemed to care, but I still feel embarrassed now!

I too bought cheap nighties with some buttons from primark thought buttons would suit bf. When contractions really started I put the nightie on, was wheeled down to labour ward where midwife promptly helped me out of it and into one of their gowns! Nearly 6m later I too am now wearing them daily!

Waters were still leaking out so t-shirt and towels to sit on. Hospital gown and socks once on labour ward. Didn't keep the socks on deliberately but it was kind of comforting to look down and see something I recognised as my own.

Soft joggers and long t-shirt for afterwards, didn't bother about buttons and stuff, just lifted top to BF.

I was VERY worried about this during my last pregnancy and had a mild panic about being completely starkers while giving birth. In fact, I think there was a thread on here about what to wear (about a year ago) - and between us we came up with a plan to design a wetsuit type outfit, with a flap that could be opened just before baby popped out Grin

In reality, I went through most of labour (in birthing unit) wearing a vest top & loose tracksuit-type bottoms, plus underwear and socks.

I ended up getting transferred to hospital, and i THINK the bottoms came off when doctor first did an examination, then i can't remember putting them back on Hmm - was always covered though by a sheet, perhaps I kept my knickers on? Wow, it's only 11 months ago too!! Blush

While actually giving birth I kept my vest top - and socks! - on. Socks were also not intentional, but it seemed pointless removing them by the time i realised! The midwife was very proud of herself & me for keeping my socks clean!!

This time round, I'll just keep on whatever I'm wearing at the time - as I'm due in August it will hopefully be a vest top again!
