at 21 weeks....?

I know I shouldn't be worrying, but I feel the weight is creeping up a little quickly in this pregnancy

I am 16 1/2 weeks and have put on 8 pounds. It kind of scares me, but I am not hugely overeating ... I just eat normally I think.

Fingers-crossed!

MrsVidic · 06/02/2011 12:16

14 weeks and 3.5 pounds but i put on 3 stone in my last preg and lost it very quickly due to the wonders of breast feeding

hippy3 · 06/02/2011 13:00

I am 28 weeks today with twins..I am normally 8 st I weighed in last week at 11 stone !!!!!!!!! I am not too bothered and to be honest Dont even own a set of scales. !! the hospital weigh me every two weeks...

I figure that it will all drop off after Ive given birth.
As long as I am not uncomfortable and can still move around im not too worried. Its all on my bump..and no where else. I am still wearing my size 8 jackets... Just cant get them around my bump..!

I am not over eating, have a healthy diet. Am not eating for 3 and am still pretty active.
I honestly think it depends on the person... Smile

dribbleface · 06/02/2011 13:05

Can't remember what i was at that point but gained 3 1/2 stone overall! My mum was apparently the same but worse. I lost most of it pretty quickly but was left with 1/2 stone i didn't bother couldn't shift.

fallingandlaughing · 06/02/2011 14:22

I am 16+3. Don't own scales, but have put on a little weight on my face, a lot on my tummy and a little on my hips and thighs. Can just do up my winter coat, but jeans haven't fitted since week 7 and vests sit above the bump.

I have decided my body knows what to do so eating what I want (a lot) and trusting it will work out..

beckie90 · 06/02/2011 15:05

im 30 weeks and im -3 pound (maybe a little more) down on my pre pregnancy weight, but i lost weight in 1st 3 months. unlike last time i was huge at this point, i put on nearly four stone but was underweight before pregnancy

Petalouda · 06/02/2011 15:33

I'm 33+2 and have put on at least 2stone. I was about 9.5 stone pre-preg, and since the scales got close to 11 stone I've stopped looking!

Nearly tempted to go and get you an accurate reading - but no, I think I'd rather not know any more!

Time to eat more instead, I think!

mamma2boyz · 06/02/2011 17:25

I am 20 weeks and have put on about 10lbs..not bad really considering I cannot stop eating chocolate (dont seem to have an appetite off switch!!)
However I am still exercising, though not as heavily as before (had just run a marathon when I fell pregnant). Put on 2.5 stone 1st time and 2 stone 2nd time and had no problem getting back to normal...think I might be pushing my luck 3rd time, will probably all stay on!! oh well, I will have a gorgeous baby!!!

MrsWajs · 06/02/2011 17:34

1st 9lbs on @ 29 weeks here :)

Tezbean · 06/02/2011 17:37

Oops. I've put on 5 pounds and I'm only 11 weeks. I've been eating non stop to try and keep the sickness at bay. Reading through these posts it seems like I'm ballooning.

witches · 06/02/2011 20:01

Tezbean if it makes u feel better I have put on 10pounds and I am only 15weeks. I seemed to balloon right from the get go, i know people say you shouldn't care but if you have always watched your weight its weird to have no control. I come to conclusion there is nothing i can do so hey ho i'll enjoy the treats Wink

4thtimelucky · 06/02/2011 20:09

now I am paranoid for the opposite reason - 17 weeks in my 2nd pregnancy and my scales were the same weight as my booking appt this morning. Although in my first pregnancy I put on only 16lbs the whole way through - I had a pre-preg BMI of nearly 30, this time it was just over 26. I don't know if because I was overweight before that's why I put on so little? Bizarrely this time I am definitely showing already which I didn't til about 20 weeks last time so obviously bump is eating my thighs :)

1Catherine1 · 06/02/2011 22:26

:) As I said 4thtimelucky, no matter what your weight does you worry. Put the scales away! Grin At 31 weeks I realized I'd lost nearly 7lbs between then and my checking in appointment. I was so worried that I was starving my baby. My MW wasn't even slightly concerned and just laughed when I explained how I'd managed to accidently weigh myself. I am now 34 weeks pregnant and weigh 4 lbs lighter (I only checked to write this post) than my checking in appointment. I'm not worried because my MW wasn't. She explained that because I was overweight to start with (BMI of 28) to lose a bit of weight wouldn't necessarily be bad as long as I was eating properly. We compared my eating habits before pregnancy and during and she measured the baby and told me baby was growing perfectly and the weight lose was probably due to me swapping ready meals for proper food.

As a lot of women keep pointing out, it really does depend how you were pre-pregnancy and the way pregnancy affect the exercise you can do. I'm surprised I haven't put on weight since pregnancy has stopped me doing any exercise because of the pain I'm in and my huge belly - yes, -4 lbs but a huge belly. Shock

hilltop666 · 07/02/2011 21:27

im 19+3 and have gained about 10lbs although im still in size 8-10 clothes and most people dont even realise im pregnant so i dont know where it has went- it must be all baby! hopefully it stays that way :)

ecuse · 08/02/2011 11:53

30 weeks and 18lbs put on here (was overweight to begin with, though, with BMI of 38)

mandy1978 · 08/02/2011 12:06

39+1and i am 2 and half stone heavier. to be honest i was shocked as i am all baby, maybe a size 12 on bottom and my norm tops fit me except for my bump. i carried loads of water last time and had a 8.8 baby.

i dont worry about it, i am very fit, healthy and active. eat fruit vug and chips.. enjoy it will fall off when you go back to normal exercise etc.. dont expect t to straight away give it 9 months but just keep being active.
post birth i plan to walk, walk, walk.. cut carbs in the evenning but apart from that be normal and it soon comes off.

xxxx

TabithaTwitchet · 08/02/2011 12:13

I am 22 weeks. Have put on just over 2kg so far - am a bit concerned the other way, that I am not putting on enough. I am certainly eating for two.
Having said that, I was probably about 5 or 6kg over my ideal weight before I got pregnant, so perhaps it is no bad thing.

stuffedmk · 08/02/2011 12:37

I'm 32 weeks and have so far put on 24 lbs, quite happy with that really.

Mum2Pea · 11/02/2011 16:17

oooh, im 21 week and have put on 15lbs!
far more than i would have liked.
And quite frustrating as with 1st PG, ate what i liked and had put on 15lbs at 21 weeks abnd this time have been really good and watching what i eat!
Moral of the story: Makes no difference, your body will retain what it needs, regardless of how carefuil / not careful you are

FindingStuffToChuckOut · 11/02/2011 16:25

29 weeks and not weighed myself since booking!
Clothes are fitting OK though bump & boobs are huge

FeralGirlCambs · 11/02/2011 17:17

15+2 and minus 1lb from booking-in appt. I think it's the lack of booze! Seems from these posts that 'normal' is a very broad spectrum...

lilly13 · 11/02/2011 17:20

at 21 weeks, I put on 3.5kg... now at 27 weeks my total weight gain is 7kg -- it just started piling up too quickly after 19 weeks... quite worrried to be honest...

starfishmummy · 11/02/2011 17:45

can't remember exact figures but I lost a lot in the early stages - don't know why as i wasn't trying to, nor off my food. I actually ended up not much heavier at the end than I had been at the start. Still had a big bump though!

Laska · 11/02/2011 18:00

I've put on nearly 3st (was 8st3 to begin with) which makes me a it Shock when I write it down but am not worried about it.

Laska · 11/02/2011 18:02

'a bit' rather than 'a it'!

And I should have said that I'm 35 weeks.
