Hi

My mum was saying that I need to wash all the baby clothes and linen etc befoe they are used....but they are all still brand new and mainly in still in their plastic wrap!

Do they really have to be pre-washed? What are you doing?

Thanks

Think we will be doing the baby clothes, etc ,wash at about 34 weeks :)

I've washed them all. You don't know what chemicals the fabric has been treated with or how clean the factory or storage places were. Also, they smell yummy once they're washed.

i only washed the 2nd hand things i bought/aquired. have a freel of the stuff in packets - if it feels stiff/treated use your judgement about washing them

Yep I washed mine too and will also wash them for this little monkey at about 34 weeks as moregranny said. I used the baby softner today and I smelt it on our bedding and it made me think back to when my DS (whos now 5yrs old) was a baby. Ahhhhh and it does smell soooo nice! Smile

I found myself ironing muslins with DS1. Not sure what had got into me. I don't even know if we still own an iron! I did wash some new stuff when baby was v small as I was obviously still nesting. didn't bother after a couple of months.

You should wash everything - there was a thread on here a while back where a girl who worked at Primark said that loads of clothes etc. are treated with very harsh fungicides and other chemicals and you wouldn't really want those next to your baby's skin.

Am 34 weeks and have washed all mine - whether second hand or new. As SarahScot says, I have no idea what chemicals have been used in the factory, so would rather have them all laundered first.

I've always washed mine - I love that first washline full of tiny things - and it's nice to have everything clean and ready for your baby Smile

Because they may have been treated with chemicals and babies have very sensitive skin. I washed with a little bit non-bio and then washed everything again with water only to make sure there was no residue.
