I am nearly 12 weeks. After a few days of having a very sore bum I have finally had the guts to have a look and I have piles Shock

I feel really quite sick thinking about it.

And it hurts to sit down Sad

Any tips or remedies please?? Will they go away?

This is my 3rd pregnancy, have had them in previous 2 but have them quite badly in this one. Not sure I had them as early as 12 weeks, poor you. Obviously don't get constipated, although I was quite the opposite!! lots of water, try not to push when going to the toilet, raise your feet when doing a poo, resting them on a small stool (no pun intended) or kiddy step, or lean on the balls of your feet.

I found Anusol a help in my first 2 pregnancies, but in this one it didn't help at all, pharmacist recommended Germoloids, it was better but still not great. I ended up getting a prescription from the GP on midwifes advice (don't worry, no-one had a look). If it hurts to sit down I would run and get something for them, don't worry they will go away after the baby is born and please don't be embarrased most people get them they just don't tell you Grin

I agree, go and see your GP and get something prescribed.

If you are on iron tablets, consider switching to Spatone, which will make bowel movements less unpleasant (although seek medical advice first).

They will go away. Most people do get them after a vaginal birth anyway, from pushing the baby out, so think of this as a trial run and stock up on your chosen pile cream in advance of the birth.

Don't be embarrassed, this is something that very few people talk about, even though they will discuss stitches in detail! Luckily for me a good friend warned me.

Thanks. I am on iron tablets but have no issue with constipation or straining or anything so I don't know quite why this has happened! As wiggles says, quite the opposite here too!

I will phone the GPs I think. Not particularly embarrassed, just repulsed Blush

Food-wise, I can recommend the following for breakfast:

2 or 3 weetabix, small handful of sultanas and a couple of tablespoons of mixed ground seeds by Linwoods (in the baking section at Sainsburys and about £5 a big bag) which has ground linseeds in it, as well as other things. Or you could have it in yogurt with a swirl of honey. I haven't had any problems yet, and I'm prone to bum-related problems.

Also, kiwi fruit (a couple a day), a few prunes, and lots and LOTS of water!
