Still vomiting & nauseous at nearly 18 weeks and fed up of it. Prev 2 pregnancies, ms has stopped at around 14 weeks, but still continuing with this one, and fed up of it (the ms, not the pregnancy). Anyone else had ms continue past 1st trimester? When did it go?

Am 38 weeks and still vomiting sorry Sad, this is also my 3rd!!!. Am better at controlling it, I am actually better if I eat much less during the day but eat later at night, strange but works for me. The weirdest thing is that food/ drink that never would have bothered me before makes me worse ie can't touch fruit, bread, hot drinks, anything sweet. I'm not feeling nauseous, I'm violently throwing up!!

Spoke to consultant about it a few weeks ago, and she recommended taking Gaviscon regularly throughout the day even if I had no heartburn, indigestion. I also have been taking an iron supplement for the past 2 weeks, apparently should have been on it longer but bit of a mix-up.

Good luck, you really have my sympathy, its so shit feeling that ill, and having other dcs. Ps with dd2 my vomiting stopped at about 22 weeks, so you never know.

Poor you. It feels never-ending by 18 weeks!

I'm 20 weeks now and am still suffering from some morning sickness. It started to get better at 18 weeks. I'm not being sick anymore but struggle to eat due to the nausea.

I hope you start to feel better soon - wish I had a miracle cure!

Rannaldini · 01/02/2011 11:26

look I know i'm supposed to say it will stop soon but

with d1 I was still chucking up when i was in labour
it never ended

the other 2 weren't half as bad (as if that is any consolation)

wolfhound · 01/02/2011 12:55

thanks for the sympathy all. - rannaldini, that sounds horrible still being sick when in labour!

am self-employed and need to get quite a bit of work done before baby arrives - the ms is really sapping my productivity at the mo.

I had really horrific nausea in first tri that stretched to about 20ish weeks. After that, it's slowly been generally improving although I'm still on anti sickness pills and it doesn't take much to set it off (it;s annoying and bad at times but not debilitating in the same way as first tri). UNlike wiggles I've had really bad nausea but not so much sickness. My GP also recommended gaviscon for it and said that lots of people start to feel better around 20 weeks - something to do with hormone changes, so don't give up hope.

im 39 weeks and still get it quite often! midwife says im just one of them women who has a rubbish time in pregnancy! however, it isnt no where near as bad as it was in the first trimester, so thats a plus!

jellyhead188 · 01/02/2011 13:20

Yes unfortunately, my prev 2 pg I felt fine after 14 weeks, this one it didn't stop till 20 weeks - and even now I have the odd day of feeling pretty yucky, mainly through indigestion I think. You have my sympathies. xx

wolfhound · 01/02/2011 14:24

perhaps it is mother nature telling me to stop at 3! Fingers crossed for improvement at 20 weeks then...

I had it to 20 weeks, I absolutely couldn't go near anything with dairy in it which was a real pain. Everyone told me it would get better and it did, now I've just got shocking indigestion, and I've gone off coffee again but as I'm 41+2 that will all hopefully end very soon!

Phlebas · 01/02/2011 15:40

Yes in all my pregnancies I've had sickness through to the third trimester. I'm 18+3 & haven't been sick (so far) today which is a first for this pregnancy - still feel vile though. It really isn't much fun.

Rosduk · 01/02/2011 16:14

I'm 26 weeks and being sick all the time. It has completely killed my back so I have been passed to physio. Most days are a struggle and im in agony after 15mins on my feet. I've chosen to take my mat leave as early as possible as I work in a nursery and will start childminding once the baby is 6 months. It's miserable but it will be worth it in the end- that's what I tell myself when I'm whimpering over the toilet at 3 in the morning!!! :)

mum295 · 01/02/2011 16:59

You poor thing Sad

With DD the nausea (and it was just nausea, no sickness) lasted to 20 weeks then stopped overnight, and from then onwards I felt amazing.

This time around I'm 11 weeks and sicker than ever, actually throwing up this time. Am hoping it will lift sooner than 20 weeks this time!

QuickLookBusy · 01/02/2011 17:13

Yes I had sickness throughout both pregnancies. I felt as if I had a very bad hangover for 9 months. And it's what put me off having a thirdGrin.

What made things easier [i.e. mananging to keep anything down] was eating very small quantities as often as possible. Don't let yourself get hungry and don't overfill yourself.

The other thing which really made me ill was smells in the kitchen! Opening a cupboard full of food would set me off, so I had bread, cereals, flour etc on the worktop, so there was no "build up" of smell! People thought I was a looney but it really worked!

The most awful thing was my 3 year old incorporating "being sick" into her everyday play...oh dolly let me give you a bath..oh hold on must go to the loo...[sounds of 3 year old pretending to vomit]Blush

wolfhound · 02/02/2011 09:10

ha! QuickLookBusy - yes, my two both seem to think being sick is a normal daily occurrence! 3yo fetches a bucket, and 18mo squats next to me making supportive vomiting noises! I feel quite bad about that.
