I've just eaten an experimental spoonful of mustard. Not bad actually. Last night it was a curry, for lunch it's a bowl of spiced up tomato soup with ham and cheese toastie - extra mustard on the side.

Any exciting suggestions to get this weird taste out of my mouth?

any dairy in my case. but still feel queasy after eating grapes. it is now on the 'naughty list' with carrots and chicken.

I know someone who had this and she said drinking more water helped a bit.

Deliaskis · 31/01/2011 15:41

I had this early on, it was worse with dairy as well as anything with sugar, so obviously sweet things, squash, juice, etc. all made it worse.

Disappeared soonish though!

Chewing gum works for me and drinking more water

Fantail · 31/01/2011 15:50

I had this. Drinking a lot of very cold water helps, as does chewing gum.

I hate hate hate this, it's so horrible going through every day feeling like something has died in my mouth :(
I have been chewing gum to get rid of the taste mainly, I cannot wait for the horrid taste to go!!

ethelina · 31/01/2011 16:38

I could have taken up shares in wrigley through the amount of chewing gum I got through when I was pregnant. It was the only thing that took the nasty taste/nausea away for any length of time. Haven't touched it once since giving birth though.

apples are great for this.

Had this on and off and the only thing that worked was brushing my teeth and mouthwash

Danilou22 · 31/01/2011 17:42

I had this until about 16 weeks. All I could do was chew chewing gum and just kep putting more and more in! Food ade it 10 times worse ESP sweet things. Still have it a little but not any where near as bad as it was.

Avoided too much sugar, drank lots (fizzy water) and kept tictacs in my cheeks like a hamster (dont read that wrong...I didnt actually eat a hamster)

snowangels1 · 31/01/2011 17:52

I'm 37 weeks and still get this - I have to clean my teeth about ten times a day (literally). During the evenings and night (when I don't need to see anyone) I rub toothpaste on my teeth to help (makes my lips go all white hence can't do it when I might see anyone!). Have mints permenantly in my mouth too and find sugary things make it much worse.

have chewed gum and drunk water. it's not too bad right now, but am still focussing on a nice salty supper to keep me cheery... spot of mustard anyone? Grin
