Washing Baby Clothes!

I am making a start today on washing all the baby clothes, bedding etc. This is the brand new stuff and all the stuff handed down to me. I will then be putting it all in a basket and then into the airing cupboard. I've got 13 weeks left to go until my due date. Is this too long to leave it, will I need to wash it again? I want to do it as I've got no other washing to do, so thought I'd make a start!

Nah you should be fine doing it now. better to be as organised as possible.

Cannot believe the amount of washing one little person creates.

I'm due on 1st May and will be doing all the washing, getting his room organised this weekend.

I need to do this at some point too but what do you recommend I use to wash the clothes. Any particular brand?

onadietcokebreak · 29/01/2011 14:39

Persil or fairy non bio

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/01/2011 14:47

A lot of people use Fairy, but any non bio will be fine.

EldritchCleavage · 29/01/2011 14:52

I use Filetti or Surcare for newborn stuff-extra mild.

LilQueenie · 29/01/2011 14:55

Think it will have to be fairy as Im allergic to persil! Would it be ok to use lenor too.

nancy10 · 29/01/2011 15:23

Thanks for your replies. I'm using fairy, it's expensive though. I've just done a load and tumble dried it, it has come out lovely and soft!

It'll be fine wont get dirty just being washed and put away in the cupboards/drawers/wherever for a few weeks

fairy non bio smell is lovely! whenever i smell it reminds of my babies when they were very small

fabric conditioner i always see comfort pure advertised as the baby one? im sure that's what i used.

growing3rdbump · 29/01/2011 18:42

I've stashed all DC1 and DC2's clothes in boxes labelled 0-3 months and 3-6 months (feeling very organised!). It's all washed and ready to go when DC3 arrives in May. Any non-bio will be fine, although I did hear a while ago that there's no evidence non-bio is better for baies clothes than bio...

LilQueenie · 29/01/2011 18:48

I thought it was because of the babies skin rather than teh clothes fabric though.

onadietcokebreak · 29/01/2011 19:30

I remembered after i posted that I used to use asda and tesco non bio and sensitive conditioner unless fairy/persil on offer.

Tesco baby club were always sending me vouchers for fairy.

growing3rdbump · 31/01/2011 11:08

No, I mean for babies clothes which then goes on their skin. I'm sure it was in the news a while back saying there was no evidence it was better for babies than bio... cant be certain though.
