Snoring

Apparently I snored ALL night, very loudly. I feel like I haven't slept and my husband is shattered. We have the option of separate bedrooms but to be honest it's a last resort. Anyone got any tips for stopping me snoring? My throat is so dry I can barely speak this morning (the only upside of the snoring according to my hubby!!!)

lol...this has started to happen to me !! I think im as quiet as a mouse, have NEVER snored before but my DP keeps having to wake me up in the hope that when I turn over it will stop...no such luck ! Smile

Hilarious (for us, not for them!) We've had the same problem throughout with my difficulty in breathing and heavy snoring which sometimes wakes ME up! :)

I tried nasal strips (they are not medicated, but the adhesive supposedly opens up your nostrils a bit...not the prettiest sight but we're supposed to be sleeping, right?) They helped minimally, though I slept better with them on b/c I could breathe better! My DH sometimes uses ear plugs, so that I have to wake him when his alarm goes off! Recently a doctor advised me to take Flixonase (?), a nasal spray, which contains steroids which he claimed would not effect the baby. I use it minimally b/c I'm worried about the harm it could cause.

It's very possible that your DH will get used to the snoring, so no need to move to the extra room!

Glad it's not just me! I might try the nasal strips and possibly the spray, not just for DH benefit but for me too, I slept 9 hours but woke up feeling exhausted like I hadn't had any decent deep sleep (possibly good preparation for April and DS arrival!)

Hubby occasionally moans at me, but I have blocked sinuses and am on beta blockers which has made it ten times worse, I really can't help it and sometimes even wake myself up :( Sometimes I fight to keep awake till he is asleep then it doesn't wake him up so much.
Sorry can't be any help, hope you find something x

Envy gretnagirl 9 hrs sleep oh my!!! I haven't slept for that long since about 6 weeks with this one got bloody insomnia !!!! Am 35 weeks now... but no snoring Smile

My DP has taken to calling me his 'lumberjack' because my snoring sounds as if I'm sawing wood. So attractive!

lolajane2009 · 31/01/2011 10:55

lol tell him he caused the issues so to lump it. Hubby woke me up last week with his snoring so I can sympathise. I just smacked him with my teddy bear then he rolled over and restarted so I hit him harder.

I am with you here. Am 38 wks with first DC and am snoring like a drunk sailor apparently. DH has gone in another room when its bad but understands I can't help it.
I wake myself up sometimes with this huge snort. And I end up on my back because of pelvic pain too.
I find its worse if the room is too hot so try opening a window and have a really good clear out of your nose before going to bed.
I tried nasal strips but they kept falling off.

hoolabombshell · 31/01/2011 18:43

MedicalEd I am sooo you. I'm 37 weeks and keep waking myself up with these god-awful Miss Piggy-like snorts that seem to come from nowhere!

I too end up on my back because I get hip-ache on my sides, and can't use a full-body pillow because I end up too hot and it takes me about 20 seconds to roll over.

Pregnancy is indeed very glamorous, our other halves should feel lucky that snoring is the only thing they have to put up with (well, almost the only thing :)

GretnaGirl · 31/01/2011 19:10

LOL thanks for all the stories, I can at least console myself that it's not just me! I smack DH and make him turn over when he snores but as turning over for me is a major operation he doesn't like to wake me!!! I tried the nasal strips and for the first night they seemed to help but I was noisier than ever last night apparently!!
Good point hula if this is the only thing DH has to cope with then he's lucky!

I am doing exactly the same - driving my DP to distraction. I've found the 'breathe right' strips help a bit. He says they don't stop me all night, but they tend to stop me long enough for him to get to sleep before I start again.

CaringForPod · 02/02/2011 08:07

Glad to find this thread - drove husband onto the sofa last night due to my snoring (nursery is being done up so no spare bed at the moment).

I feel really bad, as apparently he could hear me wherever he was in the house, even when he was wearing ear plugs. He even woke me up as he thought it couldn't be good for me.

Nasal strips seem to be hit and miss from what I've read, but I may give them a shot. Any other advice?!
