I am very tempted by the bednest, anybody got one and if so do you like it?

Thanks

We just bought one, baby's due in a few weeks, so can't say if I like it or not, but I'm very excited about it!

We got ours because some friends of ours have one and totally rave about it.

They love the quality, say it's beautifully made, and love that they dont have to do too much getting up and down and lifting to do feeds at night (especially as my friend, the mum, has arthritis).

They also like that it tilts so they have the baby's head slightly higher than his feet which they think has really helped with his reflux.

They couldn't recommend it enough, which is why we got it, but I've never met anyone else who has even heard of it, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

I have been looking into these as well. There are a few different types of bedside co-sleeping cots. I look forward to reading people's comments here.

Oh this makes me more tempted!

I really like the look of them but they seemed quite expensive a ouple of years ago. How much do they cost at the mo?

Ours is ordered and comes this week, I'm very excited about it. I'm a bit worried it won't fit our bed though and we'll have to get a new bed as we have a low bed with sides on it so I'm just waiting to see it when it comes.

cordiality · 28/01/2011 13:31

They were £215 from the NCT shop, sh77 - I justified mine by thinking it was about the same price as the health in pregnancy grant, so that made it fine! I know that's been phased out though, so you may have to come up with another excuse!

Gruffalo I was worried about that with our bed as well, but DH has had a little go with it and he says it's really easily adjustable and the straps are easy to fit etc, so reckons it wouldn't be a prob even with a really low bed. As long as you have sides that the straps can fix on to I guess.

I am tight poor so with ds1 we have used an Ikea cot. It converts to be a cot bed (you drop the base and take one side off) I just made it up with the side missing, but the base high up like for a cot.

Before we went I measured the hight of our mattress. Ikea do a couple of different cot mattereses that are different thicknesses so I chose the one that made the cot the same hight as our bed iyswim.

It cost about £70 iirc...

I just push our bed up against it and make sure there isn't much gap. We used a moses basket before we got the cot (up to about 3m) but as newborns don't roll I'll probably just pop the next one straight in. Smile

Iwas told that if there is a gap you can put a rolled up towel down the furthest side of the cot mattressto push the two matresses close together. We never needed to.

A budget option for you!

My Brother in law made one for his first child and it has been around friends and family for the last 10 years... Looking forward to using it myself for the first time in June....

made of old table legs adjusted for the height of each bed, off cuts of Pine chest of Drawers sanded down on 3 sides so the baby can't roll out, with a new mattress each time- perfect...

schmee · 28/01/2011 15:13

Word of caution from what Moonface says - newborn babies can sometimes roll. One of mine did all over the place for a few weeks.

We have an Armsreach co-sleeper which is pretty similar. Lasted DC2 until she was almost a year but then she was quite short! Very, very convenient.

Neon · 28/01/2011 19:20

We have a cot by our bed - it's fab. DC2 due in June so DS has his own cot to go in in his own room April/May time - well that's the plan anyway!! :o

i found a £40 bedside crib from kiddicare, we plan to remove a side (whether it will ever happen I don't know...) but it fits perfectly in our small bedroom. Ds just been born so not gone in it yet!!

Had a mini co-sleeper was brill.

Tbh I just used the bed against the wall last time (but had massive bed).

GoldFrakkincenseAndMyrrh · 28/01/2011 19:33

We have a crib ordered that you can take one side off. It goes cot (3 sided or 4) to bed to bench. Adjustable mattress heights too. I'm super excited Grin
