Question about sizes of Maternity Clothes

I am 15 weeks and am alas down to two pair of trousers. I went online in the sames and picked up some cheaper stuff and was all excited - until it arrived today.

I am usually a 10-12 and all 4 things from 2 different stores are just HUGE!

I know I am going to get bigger, but just how much?! Smile. Do people tend to grow into their size in maternity wear (and I am definitely expanding) and so I should not panic that there are so big.

Or really should I wait until much later to do maternity shopping so I don't end up with lots of unwearable stuff?

I'm normally a size 6/8 and started showing at about 17 weeks, I bought mat clothes in a size 8 which were fine, if a bit big the same as yours, until about 30 weeks when I outgrew all my jeans sob sob! Dresses are still okay though. I think it's best to buy things as you need them although sales are tempting... I live in Asda jogging bottoms and massive pjs at home now (38 weeks), so glamourous!

Really recommend jojo maman bebe btw.

Thanks! Actually 2 things came from JoJo - a pencil skirt and skirt (£15). The two ther were from Saphirre ... I can't see myself every fitting into them and I guess I could send them back for a smaller size. But what if I them really expand?

I'm nearly 15 weeks and am in that uncomfortable in-between stage - too big for my regular clothes but too small for full-on maternity gear! Getting dressed in the morning depresses me!

I've bought some mat gear but it's just too big at the moment. I personally am holding off on the mat wear and trying to be creative with my current wardrobe.

I'm getting by through using the old elastic band around the button hole trick to get more wear out of my jeans. I also have a few trousers that have a zip and button thing - I do up the zip and then, rather than doing up the button, I tuck the top of the waistband in (if that makes any sense). I then make sure my top covers the tucked in bit.

My staple wardrobe at the moment is a stretchy skirt, leggings, and boots (all worn together) with a roomy top.

It's a hard stage and I can't wait till I get big enough for 'proper' maternity wear!! So I know what you feel like!

I definately recommend getting the trousers/jeans with elastic inside that can be tightened with a button for that in between stage. They were the only thing I found comfortable!

I am 16 weeks and have just moved to maternity trousers - last week I was fine in my old trousers (although a size bigger) and this week they are just uncomfortable. I bought maternity stuff that was on the loose side, but not enough to look too big.

My idea is that I'll buy spring stuff that fits now, with growing room, so that I can wear it straight away. And I hope that by the time I get really big, it'll be summer and warm weather and I'll need different clothes anyway.

I used a hair band on my regular trousers and got a lot of wear out of my non pg tops by wearing a bump band underneath, they're only £10 for 3 in New Look and they still fit me now, just Wink

I used the hairband and bumpband tricks too. Didn't need to wear proper maternity clothes until 28-30 weeks and then bought them in my normal size.

I got a dress from Jojo Maman Bebe & it is HUGE! It's my size (12) but it drowns me, and that's even with my boobs having gone up from 36B to 38C. It is a bit smock-like in style but I though it should fit in the shoulders. Have to return it...

OTOH I just got a lovely wrap dress from M&S maternity, it's a 12 & it fits perfectly.

I've concluded that fitted/bodycon type dresses are a better bet for me. They look great too, I love showing off my bump!
