Growth Scan??

I am having a growth scan tomorrow, I will be 27 weeks this Saturday.

For the past month I have been measuring 3-4 weeks out- larger.

This is my first baby, so not really sure what to expect. Will the sonographer predict an approximate birth weight this early? I have heard of some people having to go back for another scan 2 weeks later, to determine further growth?

I wasn't told the weight but they marked it down on the graphs in the handheld notes and doc said it was a perfect baby so I assume it was normal lol.

They usually measure certain area's I think its the abdomen, femur and head amongst other bits. Sometimes they ask you to go back if they couldn't see clearly as a lot won't co-operate. Just like a normal scan, but can be a bit longer :)

And I have noticed as well that different sonographers measure slightly differently. As long as its roughly round the same area as the line it was before I wouldn't worry if it is slightly above or below the graph :)

Had my growth scan today..though the radiographer had a complete lack of bedside manner, and hardly spoke a word. Most importantly, all seems to be fine.

The abdominal circumference measured in the 97th percentile though- so quite glad I am having a GTT next week to rule gestational diabetes out...and my fluid levels were quite high, so that may explain measuring big.

All in all though, no worriesSmile.
