Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone on here has suffered with CFS and if so how did you cope during pregnancy, birth and the early days of motherhood??

I have a mild strain but its made me very weak and I worry how pregnancy might affect me.

Currently may be pregnant but too soon to know!

Thanks,
Mel

I was very worried about this. DH said maybe we should wait but I said as it was unlikely to ever get better, we would just have to manage.

I must say, I thought it was going to be soooo bad, it didn't turn out to be anywhere near like I built it up to be. I made sure I rested as much as I possibly could. The pregnancy wasn't any different from anyone elses. The first few months were very hard but then it is for everyone. I think that fact that I was so used to being permanently tired, it actually helped in a way as I was used to it whereas other 'healthy' mums weren't and it knocked them.

Sticking to a good routine after a few months certainly helps. DS is now 3 and I am about to have DC2 and we still stick to a routine so I know where I am and I still get to rest. This is about to change though when I have DC2. I always made sure I rested when DS was asleep and never used that time to catch up on things. I also drive everywhere and don't usually do things in the mornings, have a sleep around 11, have lunch then me and DS go to a group or someones house for a couple hours in the afternoon and I usually get home around the same time as DH then for tea time.

I can't do loads like running around the parks and stuff like that but we do more of that when DH is around at weekends and stuff. I have to accept that there are limitations and DS has to get on and play if I want to just sit, but then I can always look at a book with him or if I am having a bad day, there are plenty od Disney DVDs available. I am lucky that DS is very happy to get on and play by himself and I have always encouraged it. As long as he knows I am nearby, he is ok.
