Hi

Just been to see a fetal scan specailist and reading my notes when I've got home I've noticed she's commented BM++ but I can't find anywhere what this means.
The only references I can find are regarding bowel movements but that doesn't seem to be to do with baby ultrasound.
Has anyone else ever had this? Wish I'd seen it whilst I was there.

Thanks

Hi,
The only thing that I can think of in relation to sonography is that 'BM imaging' is something relating to the type of ultrasound machine used. Ie. BM ultrasound is the conventional type of ultrasound used here and in the states (there is another type?) Maybe the '++' relates to your ultrasound being a particualy sensitive version of the scan? (when they take a very detailed look?)Is there anyone you could ring up and ask to put your mind at rest?

Baby movements? i.e. it was a wriggler little bugger when being examined?

It can mean high body mass index. This is a way for the sonographer to cover their back as the image isn't as good if there is a lot of 'adiposity' (ie. fat) obscuring their view. Don't know if this is the case at all with you though obviously...

yup high BMI, also 'adiposity' as partridge mentioned, 'maternal habitus' is another one they sometimes use.

Would likely be body mass ++

Definetly not baby movement as they'd have put FM for fetal movements.
