Nursing dresses/tops

Hi Ladies,
Well just 3 weeks and 5 days to go until due date!

The last stretch of my pregancy I've been most comfortable in leggings and dresses.

Can anyone recommend a good place to find dresses and tops that are practical for nursing?
I'd rather not spend another small fortune so happy with cheap and cheerful to see me through the rest of the winter until I can (hopefully) get back into my summer shirts.

Thanks
Lou

Hi Lou,

Mamas and Papas have 3 for 2 on loads of nursing tops at the moment.

Frugi has some lovely ones.

I bought a load of cheap nursing vest tops from Mothercare (about £12 or so each at the time) and wore them underneath normal shirts or cardigans/jumpers.

Like this www.mothercare.com/M2b-Nursing-Vest-Black/dp/B004CSL6T0/sr=1-1/qid=1295962806/ref=sr_1_1/276-3349398-8931423?_encoding=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42792041&mcb=core

Dresses are tricky...if you don't want to spend a fortune you might be best sticking to separates?

Also have a look on eBay to see if anyone's selling any?

Cardigans are good for covering up your Mummy-tummy and discreet feeding.

I mostly used vests with feeding clips from H&M with normal tops over. This has the advantage of keeping your tummy and boobs covered while feeding. I found that my breasts were left too exposed in tops with flaps in them to feed through.

I lived in those H&M tops with a shirt over the top. I found checked/patterned tops were most practical so that wet patches didn't show up Blush

could also try cheapie vest tops with the straps cut off! Am BF my first at the mo and found these easier than more clips (have clipped my nightie tabs into my bra a couple of times when v tired and nearly strangled myself trying to get undressed!). Also beware getting tops which open in different directions to your bra - not an aid to discretion.

agree that breastfeeding vests (or normal ones a size too big) under another top is best. Pull the vest down, and the top up and you remain pretty much completely covered. this sounds weird, but is much easier to do in a hurry in starbucks than line your boob up with the gaps in a breastfeeding top.

I have a couple of shirt dresses that button up and wear a vest under

FindingStuffToChuckOut · 25/01/2011 16:51

I used normal vests under all my 'normal' tops. Then you can pull up/down your top & do the reverse with the vests & remain pretty modest/discrete. Try it - it works:)
Best of luck with the birth & new baby!

My favourite bf top website: mamafeelsgood.com/ I've bought tops from them for various friends, and most recently got my sister one for Xmas. She loved it so much she's ordered a few more.

They're also opening a line of dresses 'soon' this year!

(and most importantly for me, they're not floral or mumsy!)
