Pregnancy vitamins - are they worth it?

I don't normally go for vitamin supplements, I eat a fairly healthy diet and am basically a stingy cynic. Blush

But I'm on my second bout of gastroenteritis in ten days and am probably also a little run down; although I'm aware bump will take all the nutrition before me, I'm starting to get a little concerned for it.

Opinions - is Pregnacare and the like worth it, or should I just buy decent OJ and a bag of salad etc.

TIA

Hmmm, I think I might give them a go, mainly because I'm jealous of all you ladies who have had a bug free pregnancy.

Thankyou.

Hiya, personally I've been taking pregnecare throughout my pregnancy and my midwife and I think it has made a positive impact on reults such as urine and blood but who knows I might of been alright without them? I guess thats not very helpful but in early pregnancy before taking them I was getting a lot of urine infetions and they stopped after taking vitamins but I couldn't say for sure if the lack of urine infections was a reult of the pregecare...hope that ramble helps? Confused

I have a problem which means it's essential to take very high dose folic acid to ensure my children are healthy, or even that they can survive, sadly. My consultant was very dismissive of any other pregnancy vitamins, and reckons they're a waste of money. There is quite possibly a good placebo effect, however!
