Another Braxton Hicks question

Sorry for this quick question.. I didn't have these with my first pg so when they started about two weeks ago I finally twigged what I was experiencing - Braxton Hicks contractions. However, instead of being every now and then I've been getting them strongly for about 2hrs in the evening the last three nights. They're all over the place so I know they're not 'real' contractions.. but my question to you is if they become more frequent, eg. daily, does this mean things are going to happen soon? Or is it just bad luck I'm getting them every night? I'm only just 37wks and would like baby to stay in there a little longer!

What do you reckon?

i had these, exactly the same as you! but only for about a week or so before i went into labour! so maybe baby will come sooner than you think!

I did have them on and off for a couple of months beforehand... but regularly each evening about a wek before birth

This happened to me for about five/six nights before I went into labour properly - in fact caused much hilarity/eye rolling on mumsnet because I kept haring off to the hospital each time, then coming back again! Doesn't necessarily mean it is imminent, I was told, but it was in my case. I went into labour proper on ds's due date.

Hi Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but this happened to me for weeks before my due date and I was 2 weeks Over. Sorry! Might not mean that for you though!

Hi all, so I guess I shouldn't assume anything but be prepared?! Only packed my bag last night. I was five days late with ds and all our plans for this pg follow the same suit. Have building works going on at home which won't finish for 3 more weeks! Arrhg, pls let them settle or be like singyswife and not mean anything...

I would always advice you to ring the maternity ward - I had weird contractions at highly irregular intervals near the end of mmy oergnancy - and the BEST THING I EVER DID was go in for monitoring as it turned out my baby was in distress (cord around the neck)

Don;t want to scare you at all, but please don't take any chances
xx

Hi teeavee, did you have any pain with those contractions? I have none with these, just the tensing, going hard. Have had lots of movement from baby (all night long infact).

I did have pain with some of them, not with others! I wasn't too worried at the time because the baby was still moving too - after 3 days I did ring the maternity ward though. It was about 7.30am when I rang. They asked if I'd felt the baby move in the last 12 hrs, and I said I wasn't sure as I'd been asleep! So, went in for monitoring, and ended up having an emergency ceasarian as the monitoring revealed the baby's heartbeat was slowing during the contractions.
Every case is unique, of course, but since that experience I would always recommend double checking everything during the last few weeks, for your own peace of mind (even if you feel like you're making a fuss, you're NOT!)
look after yourself
xx
