Sympathies, I put on 7 after my mc and have put on another 7 with pg and only 12 weeks - so there it is. I am trying the porridge seems to take the edge of my appetite that said really want some chocolate tonight or cream buns that the earlier poster mentioned

Crisp breads with horseradish sauce and wafer thin beef?

Oxtail soup with dollop of horseradish?

Low fat cupasoups?

Bovril with ryveta to dip?

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 07/10/2005 19:08

im going against everyone here and saying chocolate chocolate and more chocolate!!!

its been my life saver!

rice crackers (not rice cakes - bleeeugghh) are very low fat if you like them. Sainsburys have the real Japanese ones. Miso soup with noodles? If you're after something filling, I'd go for roast veggies or just roast butternut squash mixed with some plain rice and a bit of Thai green curry - can you tell I'm hungry? Baked potatoes with crispy crispy skin?

enid, eat what you feel like, it is only for a few more weeks and then you will feel like normal again.
I put on half a stone in my 1st 10 weeks, and have only now put on a full stone in total and I'm 25 weeks, which I think is about normal really....

first 10 weeks it is necessary to stuff bland carbs because you are permanently starving and anything else makes you feel like poo

Papillon · 07/10/2005 19:18

yes I am rather liking the chocolate atm... third trimester munchies

miso soup is great - you could always add some rice noodles, tofu and afew bits of brocolli

cucumber is refreshing

I stay away from cooking my porridge when pregnant with milk cos it makes me feel ill. Stay away from cheese too especially when melted.. bleurgh.

Papillon · 07/10/2005 19:19

just watch out the rice crackers are not the ones with sugar added.

colditz · 07/10/2005 19:19

Blech, melted cheese...

LadyTophamHatt · 07/10/2005 19:23

Ohh no....just eat stodge, if that's want you want then eat it.

IMO it's the one and only time we can eat crap and not worry about it.

I ate so much chocolate and crap with ds1 that he was born suger coated. Ds2 I just ate whatever crap I wanted again and then to my horror with ds3 my craving was orange maid ice lollies and lettuce(not together).
I put on the same amonut of weight with all 3 of them.

If eating stodge makes you feel better eat it, bin all the healthly stuff.

I think it is fine to put on a pound per week of pregnancy - I did and I was very glad I did - after about 6 months of feeding huge hungry ds I had lost it all, plus another stone. I literally could not get enough to eat in the early days of breastfeeding, so maybe this is your body telling you there is a big greedy baby growing in there

Agree healthier type snacks are good, though: for stodge, how about malt loaf (Holland and Barrett do an organic sugar free one), banana bread, bagels, bowl of muesli with dried fruit. Toasted seeds e.g. pumpkin seeds are extremely nutritious - very nice dry fried in a pan with soy sauce. Breadsticks with hummus / guacamole? Fruitcake is a lesser evil, as well, especially a good quality one.

Mum2OneAndBump · 07/10/2005 20:10

hmm i feel the same i was worrying to start with but now i just can not sowrry about eating i have started the craving and i NEED to eat the things i crave I am 25 weeks well just over and i have put on 1 stone !

Bouj · 07/10/2005 21:51

Same here. Craving crisps, ginger beer and pizza. Stodge and melted cheese. mmmm. Am enormous, and am 11 weeks gone. I alternate between 'enough, no more gorging' and 'what to do? will go on diet to end all diets after baby is born'. Pissed off though, with ds I lost weight because of the no alcohol! Hasn't bloody happened this time, though, and I don't get to have wine.........

QueenVictoria · 07/10/2005 23:39

Suck lemons.

QueenVictoria · 07/10/2005 23:41

Sorry - that post seemed rude. I sucked lemons, ate lemons, drank lemonade etc etc. Was the only thing to kill the nausea. I gained 3 stone overall in my 1st pg and 6 weeks after birth was 4 stone lighter overall.
