Any pregnant nurses out there?

Hi everyone
I've just found out I'm pregnant and I'm wondering how soon I should tell work? I'm a nurse on a surgical ward and I spend a fair bit of time pushing beds around - am sure you are not supposed to do this during pregnancy but got no idea why - its no harder than pushing a trolley round tescos really.
Most of my patients are medically 'well' which helps - its all elective surgery so no swine flu etc. I do a lot of running round though so not sure how I'll cope at work when the tiredness and morning sickness kicks in!
Would be nice to hear how other nurses have coped at work and also if you think its a good idea to tell the boss early on. This is my first pregnancy so i've got no idea how i'll be feeling in a few weeks - am sure someone guessed the moment they saw me making a decaf coffee yesterday anyway!

Am in the medical world and I told boss around 8-9 weeks as I do work round flu patients. Had a occupational assessment of jobs risks which includes things like lifting etc with Occupational health. Made everything clearer. I asked the boss to keep it to themselves until first scan. I think its very much personal choice.
The coffee gave me away too!! :) I could not stand the taste of it and I love coffee normally, also the regular visit to the toilets with morning sickness! I had 4-5 weeks of people pretending they didn't know which was quite funny!

Good luck

I don't think anyone would pretend they didn't know in my work! I have lots of pregnant colleagues and there is plenty of gossip about who will be next. When I tell the boss I bet her reaction is 'oh not another one!'
Might just not say anything until someone asks me outright - I give it 2 weeks!

I told my manager early on at about 6 weeks and then had to tell several other people, because we had a lot of patients needing x-rays at the time and I had to explain why I couldn't take my patient to their x-ray (my patients are all babies/ small children so need to be accompanied into the room while they have their x-ray). There was never really the option of keeping the pregnancy a secret! Several of my colleagues knew before close family members. I also told her so people didn't panic if I was sick. Also, I don't know if our beds and cots are smaller and lighter than yours, but personally I find pushing them harder than pushing a shopping trolley so do now try and get others to help me when I used to struggle and move them on my own. The job is hard work, especially with morning sickness and pregnancy tiredness as well.
