Hi all

Thought I'd share my experience with you in case it helps others. I'm 6+4 today and since last week (on my birthday!) I've been spotting; first pinkish blood when I wiped, then light brown spotting in a pantliner and brown mucous (sorry) most recently. Had really bad cramping pain and back ache yesterday so was thinking the worst.
Referred to EPAU yesterday, and just back from there now. Had an internal exam and apparently I have an ectropian (sp?) cervix - which means that cells which are normally inside the uterus are outside of it. It's quite common in women who've been on the pill for a long time the doc said, and it's the source of my spotting - yey!!!

They were still concerned about ectopic as I was tender on one side - so had an internal ultrasound and saw our little poppy seed! In the right place, and with a heartbeat Grin

So relieved, but probably won't completely chill out until the 12 week scan....oh, and my spotting may well continue throughout pregnancy so I better stop the knicker-check as it can't be good for my stress levels!

misty glad that you got a reason for your spotting. Back when I had DS now 11, I was very much the same as you, but they didnt have a cause then. I had a few early scans and all was well with the baby and I was told "sometimes it just happens" which you can imagine as a first time Mum didnt exactly help ease my mind.

I am pleased that your mind is at rest. Grin

Good luck in your pregnancy. So... does this mean you have an October due baby?

Thanku :)

No, it's due 9th September Grin. I'm wishing away the time until 12 week scan - although I have to finish writing my dissertation before then as well Shock.
Hopefully I'll be able to concentrate a bit more now...

What a relief for you. I had the same thing in my last pregnancy. It means the surface of the cervix is very sensitive and prone to bleeding. [ahem..after a big pooh was a trigger for me.. perhaps I'd better name change now!..]
Glad all is well. constant knicker checking not good for concentration!

Go finish your dissertation, that will keep your mind off things for a few weeks.

I have had this with all five pregnancies, regardless of outcome! (two were first trimester losses) It's very annoying. It does seem to clear up around the 12 week mark though.

Hope everything continues to go well!
