Anti sickness tablets

Been feeling very tired and sicky (I'm about 6 weeks pregnant). I have a job where I can't just eat or go to the toilet when I want to so I've been to the doctors and they have given me prochlorperazine which you let dissolve under the upper lip.

Has anyone else had these? Do they actually help? Also, I know I am being very silly and paranoid, but are they proven to be safe? I'm having a flash back to all those years ago with an anti sickness drug that had terrible consequences for families.

Any advice/experience would be appreciated.

Sorry you're having such an awful time. I tried prochlorperazine for a week or so. Unfortunately it didn't work for me, but I did go on to take medication throughout my entire first pregnancy and my baby was/is absolutely fine, no adverse affects. It was that or risk severe dehydration and the risks that carries to the baby.

There are other things you can try too though like acupuncture and seabands, in case you haven't tried these already, which might help you enough to not need medication.

I'd also recommend if the prochlorperazine doesn't work for you to ask your GP to try other options as there are many, many medications now that are given to pregnant women for nausea and vomitting.

Hope it eases for you soon.

I had a similar medication called buccastem where you dissolve under the upper lip usually take about an hour and they worked for me a treat! Am on preg num 3 and used in all my pregnancies and no side effects of baby effects. They wouldn't give them to you if they weren't safe! Try them first and if they don't work then try this one they may be stronger as I suffer from hyperemisis, good luck x

I've had buccastem in the past too (when not pg) and that worked well. I've been taking cyclizine pills during pregnancy for pretty much the entire time (now 35 weeks). Even if you can't eat and use the loo easily in your job I'd recommend having mints/energy sweets in your handbag and sipping on water. The sea bands do help too. And not dashing about the place. Hope it works for you.

Thank you Smile

The tablets are called buccastem I just noticed that! I'm going to test them out today whilst I'm not at work and hopefully they'll sort me out.

I 'venot actually been sick yet but lots of watery mouth and retching. I will get on of those bracelets at the weekend too. Where can you buy them?
