I know there have been a couple of threads on this subject but I am still not sure where you are all getting your maternity clothes from.

I am a size 22/24 and getting really stressed not only about the pregnancy but also about finding anything to fit me in the coming months.

Please let me know how you have managed to find clothes to fit as cant seem to find any on the net - am in Northern Ireland as well so some high street stores aren't available to me.

Thanks

it might be worth having a look on ebay there are plenty of shops on there as well now, so you should be able to get yourself fixed up with something

Taramac, I had this exact problem, and finally gave in and got a next directory, and it's solved all my probs - their clothes go up to size 22. The maternity trousers are really generous - I was a size 22 pre-pregnancy, and am wearing their size 20 maternity trousers and they're actually a bit big, but then I have got 4 months to go. Their jeans are a bit snugger than their other trousers tho - size 20 is perfect fit. Their tops aren't quite as generous or consistent tho, have to order different sizes to try on, at least returns are free. You have to get your first order delivered to home which costs £3.50, but after that you can have them delivered to store, free of charge. For some strange reason they don't stock maternity clothes past a size 18 in store, I suppose you could try ordering in store tho if you'd rather not get a directory.

Bjorn and Me go to size 28.

The Maternity Exchange do new and nearly-new in large sizes.

Bumps Maternity have some stuff up to size 26.

I'm size 26 bottoms, 32 top and I didn't buy any maternity clothes at all - I used elasticated waist trousers and long baggy tops in my normal size.

marilla · 06/10/2005 12:16

That is assuming you have next in northern ireland, if not that was probably very annoying to read...

bubbaloo · 06/10/2005 12:24

Taramac-I bought 2 tops from Bjorn and me when I was pregnant, but most of the time did the same as WWB and just wore my "normal size" clothes with an elasticated waist.I also bought a few items on ebay that weren't maternity but one size bigger which was really handy.Btw...I'm the same size as you.

shinyshilling · 06/10/2005 20:41

You could try funmum.co.uk. They do a larger sizes collection. The clothes are quite fashionable but not everything comes in a larger size.

I've bought some really comfortable track suit bottoms from ASDA for £6.00! And like others, I can recommend H&M. I bought two lovely stretchy jumpers which are great. Good luck - I'm sure you'll look lovely in whatever you wear.

Taramac, I'm sure I have a top hanging in my wardrobe which might do you - from blooming marvellous and pretty genorous in size. Think it's XL on the label, but I wore a size 20/22 with ds1. You're welcome to have (FOC for fellow Irish girl) it to try if you like. I also have some size 18/20's hanging around which I was going to put on Ebay, but if any MNers would like to make me an offer....... They're from DP's and nice for winter. I have a red collared top and a beige collared top - both 3/4 length sleeve. Also, I think a beige v-neck top with ruched sides and 3/4 length sleeve. I think I still have these - will check. I know I was glad to find them in my size when pg with ds2. Size 20 I think.

joec · 06/10/2005 23:54

Nemo666 · 06/10/2005 23:57

I bought some maternity jeans from usa via ebay...they are a godsend but I am a sixe 26/28

ei23monster · 07/10/2005 00:15

i agree to try asda and h&m i got asda mat. jeans for £10 and they go up to a size 24 i think so worth a look! hth

marilla · 07/10/2005 11:50

I've only ever seen clothes up to size 20 in asda's maternity range...maybe it's my branch?

hockeymum · 07/10/2005 15:43

Very keen to read this thread as I'm size 26 and pg with db2 due in May. With my first pregnancy I only more my normal clothes, not all of them fit me but I lived in a few looser items towards the end. I was actually lighter the day before I gave birth than I was when I got pregnant and some of my other "big" friends have said the same, you change shape definitely but a lot of things might still fit.
Thanks for all the websites I'll definitely look into them this time round. I got very bored with my wardrobe last pregnancy!

Do you have c and A? we have them in Spain but im not sure if they still exsist in the Uk. They have great pluz size and plus size maternity wear. The make is canada I think. Will see if I can find a link.

c&a is in france too. I would never have believed that it could become my favourite shop.

they have a great range in Germany called landhaus, which is north Oxford type style at c&a prices. also the larger sizes and maternity.

spookylucy · 07/10/2005 20:16

I love it too. Alot of the shops in Spain are for skinnies and I find the kids clothes a bit twee. I wonder why they didnt do well in the UK.

Nightynight · 07/10/2005 20:17

it was known as Cheap & Awful!
I seem to remember the clothes as being cruddy sort of polyester, so the quality and style of the German C&A came as a nice surprise.

oh yes, agree, checked trousers, definitely not. In Munich, they sell German traditional clothes for men - the jackets are really nice, and worn year round.
