I have hyperemisis and a cronic nasal drip which couldn't get any worse!!
Anyone tried Chinese herbal medicine?

I haven't tried Chinese herbal medicine but did have acupuncture for hyperemesis. I found that it stopped the feeling of constant nausea during the treatment and for the rest of that day but it often returned the next day. But I have to say the sickness was so bad that even those few hours of not being sick and feeling continuously nauseous were worth having the treatment.

I do have friends who had acupuncture for sickness and found that it completely stopped it so it is definately worth a try.

Sorry to hear you are suffering.

I had Chinese herbal medicine to aid my fertility and it worked.

my herbalist/acupuncturist said herbal medicine is not recommended to pregnant ladies. So when I got pregnant and suffered badly with sickness, he suggested acupuncture instead. It helped me a lot. I was in very bad shape. Stayed in bed for 2 wks (unable to hold anything down inc. water) and after one treatment, I could manage to eat a little and was able to stay out of the bed doing things. Afterwards, I did have to go back for a couple more sessions until I didn't need any more help.

I am now 29 wks and planning to see him for at 36 wks. Apparently acupuncture can prepare our body prior to birth.

This is my experience and everyone is different. But I think it's worth a go.

Good luck.

You poor thing, is a horrible part of pregnancy for some women and I really feel for you.

Whilst I know you will be desperate for a cure but from what I've read the general rule of thumb is not to take herbal medicines, drink herbal tea, even use herbal body lotions whilst pregnant as the results of using them are not known...i.e they've not been scientifically tested but equally they have been used in China for over 2,000 years and who knows how they have helped (or otherwise) pregnant women.

Have heard of big successes with accupuncture and Reiki instead, so maybe try that?

It is correct that some herbal medicines are contraindicated in pregnancy, just as many pharmaceutical drugs are also contraindicated in pregnancy. However, when prescribed by a qualified practitioner, Chinese herbs are perfectly safe and very good results can be achieved. If you are interested in taking Chinese medicine during pregnancy please find someone who is registered with a professional body. The main organisations in the UK are the RCHM and the ATCM. A reputable and competent practitioner will take a full medical history, look at your own individual condition, answer your questions, and prescribe herbs which are suitable and safe for you.

Thank you, I just walked into a shop in the trafford centre, asked for morning sickness pills and without a worry handed me theses tablets she already had on the centre told me the wrong dose on the back of it, and charged me more than they should of been! When I looked them up on the computer, they were to aid digestion! Think I have had a bad experience but won't let me be put off by it, my husband swears by it! If my acupuncture doesn't work I will definitely give it another go!
