I have done a pregnancy text and it came up as positive, I did 2 to make sure, they both said positive. Not sure of conception as due to PCOS i don't have periods, just wondering how many weeks you are before the text shows as a positive?! I did a test the week before and it said negative, so am very confused!
Thanks

Congratulations, depending on which test it is most of them would show positive at four weeks.

Hi Lisa, and congratulations.
I also have PCOS and did 8 pregnancy tests (and spent a fortune) before it began to sink in!
The clearblue digital tests with the conception indicator showed that i was 3+ weeks.
The day after my pregnancy tests i actually had a transvaginal scan booked to investigate my infertility (ho ho ho) and at that scan they estimated i was 5 weeks pregnant.

If we were going by my last menstrual period, my due date would have been yesterday - 15th January, but my periods were really irregular, so going by the scans my due date is 20th February.

Good luck to you. :)

Thank you sooo much for all your answers, although am a bit worried because I keep getting slight pains where my ovaries are. Am not sure I will be excited until a have a scan, yesday the pain was in the left ovary and today it's the right. Just a slight pain, but still makes me worry. Lx

Hi Lisa! Firstly Congratualtions! I'm a Lisa with PCOS too!! Don't think there is a link with the condition and name though :o

When I found out I was pregnant(was a big surprise) and thought i could be anywhere between 3 and 8 weeks because of my irregular cycle. I had an early scan (internal) and they confirmed I was 6 weeks. I'm now 27+1. And everything is going well.

I also had pains like you describe up round where my ovaries would be, a bit like a stich, the Dr and MW both said these were perfectly normal in early pregnancy and to only worry if they became more intense and if there was some bleeding along with the pains. If you are worried speak to your MW or Dr. If you haven't been to "book" yourself in yet there is a Tommys Midwife helpline here you can call. I have used them and they've been really helpful at calming my "first time mum nerves".

Good luck with everything!

Hi, I agree about getting a digital test with a weeks indicator unless money is really tight. That will give you a good idea, it works by measuring the hormones levels.

Don't worry about crampy pains and aches. These are all quite normal and can get to feel a bit like period pains, its basically your womb and ligaments stretching. You might also get a bit of brown or red blood (like a very light period) which can be bleeding from implantation.

Contact your GP or MW if you start to bleed and it gets heavier, you get clots or you are in pain rather than just achy or getting twinges.

I think you're sensible not to get too excited as its early days but try to relax and not worry. There's basically nothing you can do to cause a miscarriage or prevent one so relax. You'll be 13 weeks before you know it!

It depends on your area but you may not need to see your GP at all. Just call reception and they'll make a long (30 mins) "booking in" appointment with the MW at about 9 weeks. They don't usually do them earlier than that because (without wanting to worry you) the m/c rate is higher earlier on and its upsetting for people to have to cancel. Having said that, if you have a telephone chat with the MW about your PCOS they may want to see you earlier and send you for an early scan or they may just date you when they think you're around 12 weeks.

Congratulations!
