Is it true that if you have 2 c-sections you will automatically have a third? And you cannot have more than 3 c-sections? My SIL was booked in for her 3rd c-section but he arrived early and too quickly, he was born in the hospital car park. She was told she was incredibly lucky to have not had complicaions and died!!!

It's considered safer to have a third c-section usually, but as for not being allowed more than three - there's been another thread on this, but it makes me laugh - what are they going to do? Keep the baby in there???

Rubbish but common !
The stuff you can hear is just AMAZING !
SueW has a friend who had a VBAC after 3 sections ! I know a woman who attempted a VBAC after 3 sections but she did have a fourth section.
You need to be strong willed to fight these scare stories and negative attitudes.

Apparently my friend's story is in the latest edition of the NCT's members' magazine, New Generation, if anyone wants to read it (I haven't had my copy yet). Six hour labour in water at home Officially known as HWBA3C, I think. Home Water Birth After 3 Caesareans

I havn't had my copy of the mag yet but I have met this lady and her story is SO inspiring. I tell everyone I know who is worried about VBAC about her.

The advice your SIL in law was given is total rubbish rainbow.

My New Gen arrived this morning and it was fantastic to read Jenny's story in its entirety.

It should go on the NCT's website really.

I haven't heard that you would be compelled to have a c-section - I've always been told that a vbac is preferable & in most cases achievable (as long as it's not due to a recurring problem, of course), but was told that after 3-sections sterilisation was recommended. (Doc & midwife both did say in the next breath that otoh they personally knew a few women who'd had 5) so clearly neither wasn a hard-liner on this.

Thank you I always wanted 4 but after 3 sections was advised no more. These stories really help me make up my mind to try for no4
