I am not sleeping very well and of course, am getting more tired by the day. I work in a large corporate and have some seniority, although am not in any way proper management etc. It's a fairly intense environment - very career focused etc.

I feel like at some point, if I don't get some sleep, I'm not going to be able to function. do I book a day's leave or call in sick or just suck it up? I won't be able to sleep more at home, but at least watching day time tv is less onerous than trying to be on my game?

I'm thinking as much about long term career prospectives as anything else - I don't want the perception of me while pregnant to be that I was slacking or not around etc.

When I was pregnant I used my holiday to cut my days back to 4 a week and then had the occasional afternoon if I was tired. My boss was quite relaxed and I could book an afternoon off in the morning if I felt like it.

I also don't think she would have minded if I had called in sick, but it felt a bit wrong to me.

How many weeks are you? I'm having much the same problem and have just had a brief chat with HR. I want to cut my hours officially therefore lowering my salary for a short time but I don't want it to affect my maternity pay (by them using the lower pay to work out maternity pay) but I've been assured that after a certain point this won't affect things. Maybe something to think about for you too, it reduces the guilt feelings of leaving early or needing days off!

My manger said that I could take sick leave if I got too tired. I would talk to HR.

How many weeks are you? I'm 19+3 and woke up this morning and just felt like I was in a complete fog and really struggled to get up so I had to call in sick which I really dislike doing. Before being pregnant I had 2 or 3 days sick a year maximum, now I feel like I'm off regularly (I'm not but its my perception). Unfortunately sometimes you just need a day to recharge and I'm hoping I'll wake up tomorrow if not full of beans then at least with more energy and ready to finish the rest of the week.

I'm 21 weeks. But have had a lot of pelvic pain which means I'm getting very little sleep.

This is not a warm fuzzy environment so unfortunately it's not a case of being able to discuss with my boss and knowing he'll be understanding. I have to work out what to do based on what will come across well.

I might speak to him about working from home when needed from fairly soon. I had hoped to work from home at least once a week from about 30 weeks, but might need to bring that forward.
