Im 28 weeks pregnant now and my back hurts when I have stood up for say half an hour to an hour. Im currently out of work and have been for 7 months. I found out I was pregnant just after I was laid off. I have always worked from the age of 15 and never been out of work until now. I had my DS and was back at work after 3 months. I also disslocated my knee the last pregnancy and Im not sure if my back hurt as much then as it does now due to the pain of my knee maybe taking the pain of my back away if that makes sense?! I wonder if through not working im not moving aound as much I have my 5yr old to look after and there is only me and DP no help so I take him to school and pick him up and sort him out entertain him I do all the housework cook, washing, dusting, tidying, hoovering you know the usual and I have a dog who needs a walk each day. But I find recently my back is hurting so much that taking my dog is the last thing I want to do as it hurts its not fair on her. My DP starts work at 7 am and gets back 5.30pm and is a manager. He does help and is getting stuff done. I just want to be able to do more. Smile

I really sympathise. I don't have any other children and have a DH who is brilliant at home with housework etc...but I am still struggling with excruciating back and rib ache. Apparantly, there isn't a cure. I find that the only time it isn't hurting at all is when I get a warm bath. Guess it's just one of those horrible pregnancy symptoms! Bring on the birth!!

Paracetemol are ok to take - they weren't helping with my back pain so the doctor prescribed codydramol which are marginally more effective but help to take the edge off.

If you aren't taking anything at the moment it is probably worth asking your GP to try and give a bit of a reprieve

i am sorry you don't feel well. sending you a link to a few simple excercises you can do at home:

www.womenfitness.net/top10_yoga_exercises.htm

also, you can lie down on your back and put your legs straight up a wall (depending on how you feel on your back, this can be done up to 32 weeks).

I hurt my back in a car accident a few years ago, and am 36 weeks pregnant, I had been warned that this pregnancy may be very hard on the original injury, so far have been lucky but it has been very bad on occasion. GP has advised me to take co-codamol occasionally, I know co-codamol is not recommended on a regular basis in late pregnancy but for occasional relief its fine. Ps I know its easier to say but hoovering is the worst thing ever for your back.

Thanks for the advise just wanted to make sure I was not being a big girls blouse about it. Im sorry everyone is suffering its not a nice side effectof being pregnant and I can remebmer it before with my DS but it was 5 yrs ago! I dont rembmer it being this bad. Thanks for the link for excercises I was worried I had become to lazy as not going to work and stuff at the moment. The last pregnancy I was restricted to what I could do as I was in a full lenght plaster cast in my left leg for 6 weeks then loads of painful physio for months and as baby grew it put more pressure on it. So I could not do much. This time around Im ok so far and wanted to make sure the pregnancy is "normal" as the last one was not! Thanks I hope you guys feel better soon too. Think we will all feel better once our babies are born Grin

Hi I'm 23 weeks pregnant and have suffered from back pain pretty much from the beginning. Anyway managed to get a referal for physio, I would advise you ask your GP for referal. It may help, I have been given a belt to wear for when I am walking around and some exercises to do. Its not completely healed but more manageable.

Sorry to hear that busybee20 that sucks! Im going to speak to the midwife the next appt. Well thats if she listens! I have not found the surgery midwife that great as I have seen different ones. And none have been that helpful when I have asked questions. But I will aks anyway and see what gets said Smile

I had awful (lower) back pain up until 37 weeks when I went to a chiropractor, it was AMAZING, 10 minutes and i had no more back pain at all, I bloody wish I'd gone sooner.
