Cosytoes?!?!

I went shopping today and bought my pram so i was feeling very organised until I read the accompanying manual type bits and they started banging on about cosytoes and said I should buy one. I have no idea what they are and if I actually need one or not :s I'm due in July so if it's a warmth thing I'm thinking I might be fine. My early organised feelings have now faded and I'm back to feeling under-prepared and petrified :( Can ANYONE tell me what these mystical things are for?

They are the fleece-lined footmuff things you see hanging off buggies and pushchairs. They are pretty necessary in the winter IMHO for keeping your baby warm, as they are not moving around like we are. The alternative is blankets which is a PITA as babes tend to kick them off after a while.

I wouldnt worry about getting one to start with as you wont need it until about october I would guess. When you do, there's no need to buy the branded one made for your pram unless you want to (you might shock yourself with the price of them). Buggysnuggles make some good ones, mine was from Argos and does just as well. Mothercare do generic ones also.

Hi I wouldn't worry till you have had the baby and you prob won't use one till september maybe later depending on how cold it is. I'm due in june with my third and don't use them till the winter as blankets are enough for the warmer months but they are handy in the winter as they keep baby cosy. They are basically another blanket layer that zips around so keeps baby warm and cold out. Kinda like a little sleeping bag. Hope this makes sense. X

They are a lot better than blankets - the bottom half lines the buggy (which also prevents it getting dirty) and the top half zips on.

You can leave the bottom half on in summer as a buggy liner.

I got mine from here

Don't forget shops will still be open after you give birth... so don't feel too unprepared!!

(and no, you won't need a cosytoes in July)
