CTG?

Hi all,

I'm 33 weeks and 5 days.
At my last midwife appointment at 30+5, i was measuring at 33.
I had a midwife appointment today and apparantly there's been no growth - i'm still measuring 33.
The midwife has written 'static growth' in my notes, and tomorrow morning i'm going for a CTG, and i have a scan booked for Monday.
This is my first pregnancy - I have polycystic ovaries, and it took me about 7 years to get pregnant (without any treatment - it was very much a wonderful surprise) so needless to say, i'm bricking it.

I also made the mistake of googling. I know, i know - google is NOT my friend!
Fetal distress, increased movements, etc etc. Baby was moving almost non-stop yesterday, but i've hardly felt her today.
Has anyone had a CTG?
Any words of reassurance, or just a sharp slap to tell me to snap out of it and step away from google, would be most appreciated.

bump

They're just going to monitor the baby's heart rate and check it all seems normal. I had loads of these in my first pregnancy because my blood pressure was high. It is nothing to worry about.

Bump measuring is not an exact science and is open to all sorts of error. I mean, what if one week she measured from too low down, for example. I wouldn't worry too much about that.

The scan etc will hopefully reassure you. And yes, step away from Google!

first of all - if you've had no movements today or reduced movements, phone your MW or the labour ward - they might want you to go in.

Secondly, I've had CTG monitoring lots and am now 37 weeks. It's utterly painless - just a couple of sensors pressed against your tummy to measure for the fetal heartrate and movements and also whether the uterus is contracting. I found it actually very comforting, as you can hear the baby movements whilst they monitor you.

and do step away from google - it isn't your friend - it's like the big kid in the playground that thinks it knows it all, but has no experience...

Thanks for the reassurance.
Had the ctg today, which was as described, and heartbeat and movements appeared fine. :)

great news!

hope the scan goes well too.

Hi I know a lot of midwives don't think measuring with a tape measure is accurate because different midwives will measure you different and it can change with how the baby is lying. Hope the scan goes ok. Xx
