Trivial - washing baby clothes

We've just got our DC1's clothes down from the loft. They were bagged so didn't bother to wash them, I just ironed them (did a few awwws....) and hung them up.

But now I'm wondering if I should wash them? They were already washed before being bagged and put up the loft and although doesn't smell as fresh as I'd them to be, it's not that bad.

Anyone washed or didn't wash clothes for subsequent DCs?

Thanks in advance.

I washed all of DSs stuff when I got it down from the loft for #2. I had a few weeks to do it over so it wasn't any real hardship to stick an extra couple of loads on and they smelt much fresher after.

I know... Blush I feel like I've done it wrong (washing should be more important than ironing them) but have already spent 3 hours ironing them so now very unhappy about washing and most probably will re-iron them. Grrr at my baby brain.

Guess I was just hoping most would say they don't wash it.

I'm a slattern on the domestic front but even I say was them.

Ironing however- what's that?!

Could you compromise? Don't iron coats, jackets or outer garments, but definitely wash vests, babygrows and anything that goes next to the skin?

I meant don't rewash coats etc, didn't mean to comment re ironing. :)

First lot in the wash now but suspect I will still iron them if I have time.. Blush Wonder if I should iron socks and mittens as well this time? Grin

Yup, not washing coats and jackets. :)

You probably don't need to iron much if you give it a burst in the tumbledrier and take it out whilst it's still warm. I have only ever ironed one shirt of DS and that was for a christening :)

Have done just that. I only use washer dryer for drying like twice a year so completely forgot that's an option. Brilliant compromise for strange iron-freak such as I. Just saved myself hours.. and with those hours wondering where all my common sense has gone. Thanks Chynah!

If you've iron them, it sterilises them so although they may not smell so fresh and clean they are probably safe to use.

I'm just about to get DS1's clothes down and plan to wash them. A burst in the dryer then hung up straight away should get me out of the ironing.

If we get a dry day you could always hang them out on the line for a couple of hours.
